As Helmet, the unofficial spokesman for children wearing helmets, here are three tips for making sure your kid’s helmet is actually being worn correctly:

⛑️ 1. Keep it level. The helmet should sit low on the forehead, about two finger-widths above the eyebrows, not tipped back.

✌️ 2. Make a “V.” The side straps should form a V just below and in front of each ear.

☝️ 3. Check the chin strap. Buckle it snugly enough that only one or two fingers fit between the strap and their chin.

There are so many better ways to get kids home than the parent pick up line. This is a hidden tax on parents and it doesn’t set anyone up for success. Let’s give kids options like school buses, safe walking and biking routes home. Independence, physical activity, joy and community. Not soul crushing school car lines.
