I have seen this page post a few useful theme-based Spanish reference sheets like this over the last few days. Could be a good follow for Spanish language learners.

Essential Spanish Cooking Verbs

In this lesson, you’ll learn common kitchen verbs that you’ll use every day when cooking in Spanish. These actions help you describe simple food preparation steps clearly and naturally. Mastering verbs like lavar (to wash), pelar (to peel), and cortar (to cut) will immediately make your Spanish more practical.

Here are some useful examples:

Lavo las verduras antes de cocinar. — I wash the vegetables before cooking.
Pelo la manzana. — I peel the apple.
Corto la zanahoria en rodajas. — I cut the carrot into slices.

You can also describe more actions in the kitchen with verbs like rallar (to grate), exprimir (to squeeze), batir (to whisk), amasar (to knead), and mezclar (to mix).

Exprimo el limón para el jugo. — I squeeze the lemon for the juice.
Bato los huevos. — I whisk the eggs.
Mezclo todos los ingredientes. — I mix all the ingredients.

These verbs are essential for speaking real Spanish in everyday situations—especially when cooking, following recipes, or talking about food.

Fun days in Primary Spanish

08/07/2024

I still have room for 4 more students in my Wednesday morning High School Spanish class in Springdale. Class time will be heavy on conversation this year, with homework reinforcing the models we practice with. I bring as many authentic observations as I can from my years as an interpreter interacting with Spanish speakers in northwest Arkansas. And sometimes we get food and culture field trips like this one to the Diego Rivera exhibit at Crystal Bridges!

High school students follow a course of study that is conversational in tone and where grammar and vocabulary reinforce rather than compete with each other.

Classwork will focus on speaking and listening.
Homework will review the models from class with reading and writing, NOT fill-in-the-blank.

Students will be offered the chance to appreciate the varied history and culture that inform the modern Spanish speaker. Emphasis will be given to standard forms with mention of local immigrant living language forms.
Prior experience is helpful but not necessary.

Commitment to personal study and work completion at home is critical to success in this cours
