🔥 **A Short Week Ahead for Our Ignite Flames!** 🔥

Ignite Christian Academy will have a **three-day virtual class week, October 12–16!**

💻 **Monday–Wednesday, October 12–14:** Regular virtual classes

📅 **Thursday–Friday, October 15–16:** No virtual classes

This week, Ignite will be participating in the Urshan University Symposium, where our founder and administrator, Dr. Shelli Allen, will be presenting research on AI-supported neurodiverse learning in virtual Christian education. We are excited to represent Ignite and contribute to important conversations about innovation, accessibility, and the future of Christian education!

📚 **IMPORTANT ACADEMIC REMINDER!**

Although there will be no live virtual classes on Thursday and Friday, **students are still expected to complete their daily Acellus coursework on both days.**

These are not days off from academic responsibilities! Students should continue making progress in their digital curriculum and remain attentive to outstanding Google Classroom assignments.

🎯 **Our next academic checkpoint is November 13, when students are expected to reach 35% coursework completion.** Staying consistent now will help prevent students from falling behind as we approach the holiday season.

We appreciate our Ignite families for helping students maintain their routines and academic accountability.

We are proud to announce that our founder and administrator, **Dr. Shelli Allen**, will present her research at the **Urshan Symposium on October 15–16**!

Her presentation, *“AI-Supported Neurodiverse Learning in Virtual Christian Education: An Apostolic Perspective on Serving Students with Severe Autism,”* reflects Ignite’s commitment to combining faith, innovation, and inclusive education to better serve every learner.

🔥 **Second Checkpoint Reminder!** 🔥

Our second academic checkpoint is **October 9**! By this date, Flames should have completed at least **20% of each core course** and be current with their assignments in Google Classroom.

Students and parents, please take a moment to review course progress together. If you are unsure where to find your percentages or have questions about whether you are on target, check in with your teacher. We are here to help—not just at the checkpoint, but every step of the way!

🌎🔥 Happy World Teachers’ Day! 🍎📚

Every year on October 5, World Teachers’ Day gives us an opportunity to recognize the educators who dedicate their lives to teaching, encouraging, challenging, and believing in students.

World Teachers’ Day has been officially celebrated since 1994, but its history reaches back to October 5, 1966, when UNESCO and the International Labour Organization adopted the landmark Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers. That document established international standards surrounding teachers’ preparation, responsibilities, working conditions, professional development, and the importance of respecting teaching as a profession.

This year is especially significant because 2026 marks the 60th anniversary of that historic recommendation. The theme for World Teachers’ Day 2026 is “Standing with teachers: 60 years of protecting the profession, advancing its status and shaping our futures.”

At Ignite Learning Academy, we know that a classroom doesn’t have to have four walls to change a life. Our educators teach across screens and miles, build relationships with students and families, provide individualized support, encourage students when learning gets difficult, and continually find new ways to help every student grow.

🔥 October is AAC Awareness Month! 🔥

At Ignite Learning Academy, we believe every student has a voice—and every voice deserves to be heard.

Communication doesn’t always look or sound the same. Some students communicate through spoken words. Others use AAC devices, pictures and symbols, sign language, writing, gestures, facial expressions, or a combination of methods.

And we celebrate ALL of them. 🧡

As a virtual school committed to creating meaningful learning opportunities for diverse learners, we recognize that communication is about far more than speech. It’s about giving students a way to express themselves, make choices, participate, build relationships, and belong.

This AAC Awareness Month, we celebrate our students who remind us that there is no single “right” way to communicate.

Feeling behind can make it hard to know where to begin—but you do not have to complete everything at once. Sparkie has a simple plan to help:

✅ **Check:** Look at your course percentages and missing Google Classroom assignments.

🗓️ **Plan:** Choose two or three important tasks to complete today.

🎯 **Focus:** Work on one assignment at a time and remove distractions.

💬 **Ask:** If you are confused or unsure what to do next, contact your teacher.

The hardest part is often getting started. Choose your next assignment, give it your best effort, and keep moving forward—one step at a time!
