We had a great 2 weeks of band camp!

We have got a young group this year and they have really put forth the effort and accomplished a lot!

They learned marching fundamentals, their parade music, 34 sets of drill (the ENTIRE show), and they had their first performance today at the Watermelon Festival Parade in Blodgett.

We are off to a great start!

Today’s Senior Spotlight is Isaac Hupp

Isaac plays the alto and the tenor saxophone. Isaac has been a member of the Kelly Hawks Band Program for 7 years. He has been the saxophone and woodwind section leader for the last 2 years.

Isaac has been a member of Beta for 4 years, track for 2 years and StuCo for 1 year

When asked about the band here are a few things that Isaac had to say. “My favorite band memory is going on adventures with Tristin G.” and “The band has allowed me to use my musical skills greatly and has set me up for success in my future.”

After graduation Isaac plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University and acquire my bachelor's in Biomedical Science and minor in Music

I would like to thank my parents for encouraging me to play in the band, while also supporting what I do in my life. Of course, I must thank the great EMB (Ethan Michael Bartlett).

Today’s Senior Spotlight is Tristin Fladung

Tristin plays the trumpet. Tristin has been a member of the Kelly Hawks Band Program for 7 years. He has been the brass section leader for the last 3 years.

Tristin has been a member of Beta, track, and honor roll for 4 years, STUCO and choir for 3 years, FBLA, A+ and cadet teaching for 2 years, and football and Beta Treasurer of Deposits for 1 year.

When asked about the band here are a few things that Tristin had to say. “My favorite band memory is sleeping on a mattress that was on a table on the Cincinnati trip.” and “Band has been a challenge, and has pushed me past my limits.”

After graduation Tristin plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University and get a bachelor's degree in finance. Hopefully I will be managing people's money in 5 years.

Both my Mom and Dad have helped me so much throughout my band career. It is a blessing to have such supportive parents that come to every event.

A huge congratulations to our 3 seniors Tristin Fladung, Isaac Hupp, and Britton Wade for continuing their love for music in college! These 3 all received music scholarships to go and play in the SEMO Marching Band!!

Thank you to all the family, friends, and faculty that stayed after school today to celebrate their achievements!

Today’s Senior Spotlight is Leon Tuttleton

Leon is a percussionist. Leon has been a member of the Kelly Hawks Band Program for 5 years. He has been the percussion section leader for 2 years.

When asked about the band here are a few things that Leon had to say. “My favorite band memory is when I fell on the trailer while loading the pit out onto the field.” and “Taking 5 years of band was the best decision of my life!”

After graduation Leon plans to go out into the workforce.

I would like to thank Mr. Bartlett for always being someone that I can talk to.

Today’s Senior Spotlight is Chloe Smith

Chloe is a member of the auxiliary and the percussion section. Chloe has been a member of the Kelly Hawks Band Program for 1 year.

Chloe has been a member of cheer, choir, and FCCLA for 4 years, pep club for 3 years, and FCA and track for 2 years.

When asked about the band here are a few things that Chloe had to say. “My favorite band memory is going to steak and shake and always having a good time” and “I'm so glad I decided to do band senior year because I met some of my best friends and favorite mentors.”

After graduation Chloe plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University for nursing school while furthering her love for cheer by cheering for SEMO.

And to my aunts, uncles, and cousins, thank you for surrounding me with a family that always feels like home.
Every one of you has shaped who I am, and I carry that love with me every day.
