On Memorial Day, as a union, The Fenton Education Association marches with their families (including pets with and without shoes!) in the parade through Wood Dale each year. Mostly we participate to honor those who have served our country and paid the ultimate price.

For many of us that return each year, it is one of our favorite events because we get to be out in the community. Marching in the Memorial Day Parade behind our student Marching Band, jamming to the Fenton Fight Song, passing out candy and dog treats creates the opportunity for so many smiles for Fenton Education Association Members & community members alike. Seeing current, future and former Fenton students lined up in the streets waving to us makes showing up to work each day that much more meaningful.

Together we learned this year that it doesn't matter how much candy we buy--we will almost always run out before the final stretch of the parade route!

Huge thank you to the following F.E.A. members:
🔸️Don Cain & Kelly Mullins for organizing this event, carrying our banner and so much more!
🔹️The Lemm Family for the use of their truck
🔸️President Jen Selucky for her leadership and carrying our banner
🔹️Tara Chavez, Lauren Lemm and Mike Berry for bringing candy and sticky hands for throwing.
🔸️Mike Baker for our quality group photo
🔹️All those who brought family or pets to walk in the parade!

For the past few years, our IEA Region 58 has asked the locals to identify a "Difference Maker" to honor at the end-of-the-year Region Dinner. This year, our region Ethinic Minority Rep, Bernadette Garcia, collaborated with FEA President, Jen Selucky, to identify Maria Alejandra Baltuano as our FEA Difference Maker this year!

"Maria Alejandra is a force! Adding to the Fenton culture in her first year, she has demanded action to provide for our community, including food drives and an in-house pantry, laundry and clothing services, home visits, and monetary donations for students affected by the national climate. Students are given the tools and support they need to be successful, and staff alike are blessed to collaborate with Maria Alejandra. She has impacted the community in a positive way. We are lucky to have a go-getter like Maria Alejandra, and she truly is a difference maker. She is AMAZING!" -Bernadette Garcia
