We just sent out a message to our host families: Dear host families: Following the state governor and CDC guidelines, we need to wear face masks now when we are in the public. We understand there is a shortage of masks in the market, so our organization can provide 20 face masks to host families for free. If any host family needs face masks, you may contact us and we will provide the pick-up address. In case you need more than 20, please contact us as well. Thank you.

We would like to convey our greatest gratitude to the CSIET, as a full page was dedicated to our co-founder, Bernard Salera, at the CSIET Conference. Our chief executive officer, Bishan Huang, started the Conference by making a touching speech in remembrance of Bernard, who was also her husband. Throughout the event, everyone remembered Bernie as a nice, friendly, and kindhearted person who devoted his career to helping others. Executive director Bishan Huang had the honor to attend the interview on the JCC Chanel in China. On TV, she was very happy to discuss the best way to study abroad in America and answer questions from numerous Chinese parents and students. We truly thank JCC for giving us this opportunity.

It was great to meet with so many wonderful Chinese parents and students in China! I enjoyed holding this conference where I was able to introduce the American education system to those who want to pursue high school and college abroad. A big shout out and thank you to those who attended and supported AACEA's mission.

Here are some of the most common questions about host families.

1, Who can be the host families?

Host families come in many shapes and sizes. There is no typical host family: families with teens, no children, young children, children who have grown, single parents and grandparents. Host families live in large cities, suburban areas, on farms and ranches, or in small communities. Our students are also from diverse family situations. Using your interests and preferences, a representative from one of the placement organizations will help you in matching an exchange student to your family situation.

2, How will our family benefit by hosting an international exchange student?

Hosting an exchange student is a rewarding experience for your whole family. You’ll learn about another culture and language — without leaving home. You’ll start a life-long relationship with your new "son" or "daughter," and when your student returns home you’ll have a friend in another country. Members of your family will feel closer to each other through sharing your daily lives with an exchange student. If you have children, they’ll gain a broader perspective on the world, learning more about geography, communication and international cultures. If your children are young, they’ll probably love having a big brother or sister from another country. You will be a citizen diplomat by creating positive impressions about America and Americans, breaking stereotypes, and fostering mutual understanding and respect.

Hi, all,

Unfortunately, the President of AACEA, Bernard J. Salera, passed away on Sunday June 4th, 2017. He was a great man and we will always remember him and all that he did for us.

Despite this sad news, AACEA will continue to exist and function. There is no change to the existing arrangements. Furthermore, we will expand AACEA in the name of Bernard J. Salera, as we would like to extend his generosity and kindness to more in need.
