The District was notified on Friday afternoon that Douglas County will begin grinding work on 168th Street from Military Road to Abigail Street on Monday, August 24th. Grinding is expected to be completed that evening, weather permitting, with asphalt surfacing scheduled for a later date. Please plan ahead for the possibility of increased traffic in the area and allow extra time and patience while this work is underway.

It is official! BPS’ second high school will be Bennington South High School! Bennington South will open in the 2028-29 school year with grades 9-11, with 12th grade joining the following year. Attendance boundaries for the two high schools are expected to be established in fall 2027. An exciting new chapter for BPS!

Our schools were full of smiles, excitement, and plenty of first-day moments as we welcomed students back for the 2026-27 school year. Here are a few snapshots from today! We’re looking forward to a great year ahead!

🏫 Elementary: 8:05 a.m. - 11:40 a.m.
🏫 Middle School: 8:00 a.m. - 11:50 a.m.
🏫 High School: 8:10 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Today, we welcomed our newest teachers as they begin their journey at Bennington Public Schools. The morning started with breakfast hosted by the Public Schools Foundation, followed by a welcome from Superintendent Dr. Plas.

We are excited to have these outstanding educators join our team and can't wait to see the impact they'll make in the lives of our students. Here's to a great first day and an amazing school year ahead!
