Hey Hounds!
Can you believe it is the last day of school? What an amazing year it has been. It has been so much fun watching our Hounds learn and grow this year. You have all made us so .
As this year comes to a close we say Farewell to our 5th graders and wish them all the best next year in middle school. We know they will continue to make us proud. We also bid farewell to some other members of our JHE family, and wish them well on the next part of their journey.
Remember, no matter who you are, or how long you’ve been here, you are
Happy summer, Hounds! Make it a Houndtastic one! 🧡🖤

Hey Hounds,
As we get set to wrap up another school year we want to take a moment to say "farewell" to a special member of our Hound family. After 8 years of service to our school community, Ms. Elizabeth is moving on to a well deserved retirement!
There isn't a single Hound that doesn't know Ms. Elizabeth. She is often the first friendly face students see as they arrive to school in the morning, and the last one they see as they hop into their cars on their way home. For 8 years Ms. Elizabeth has been here, there, and every where! Aside from morning and afternoon greetings she can be found supervising students in the cafeteria or on the playground. She has made lasting connections with so many of our students. In addition to helping students, she has also been a huge help to the JHE staff, filling in wherever she is needed doing all sorts of jobs from delivering lost and found items and lunches to classrooms, to making copies and prepping materials for teachers. She truly did it all.
Ms. Elizabeth, we will miss you and your smiling face and sense of humor here on campus but we are so very happy for you as you start this next chapter. Thank you for your service and dedication to Joe Henderson Elementary. Be sure to stop by and see us from time to time...because remember...Once a Hound, Always a Hound! 🧡🖤

Today was one of our favorite days here at Henderson. Today, graduating seniors from Benicia and Liberty High Schools, who were former Hounds, walked the hallways of JHE one final time on their Senior Parade. They were cheered on by all of our current Hounds and then took time to share some advice and wisdom with our 4th and 5th Graders, who are soon embarking on their next journey.
Perhaps the most anticipated part of this special tradition is when the seniors get to have one final recess on the playground and mingle with former teachers and their families.
We are beyond proud of these graduates and we know they are going to go on to accomplish amazing things in life. We hope they will come back and visit again in the future. As we reminded them today, Once a Hound, Always a Hound! 🧡🖤

Hey Hounds!
This is an appreciation post for some very special members of our Hound family. Last week, Mrs. Schroers and her 3rd graders, under the guidance of their Art Docent and everybody’s favorite, Grandma Martha, repainted our playground map of the United States. Look at how amazing it turned out! It brings so much color and happiness to our blacktop.
We’d also like to thank our Joe Henderson Parent Teacher Group who generously funded the materials needed for this project, and Pedrotti Ace Hardware Benicia for the generous discount they gave Grandma Martha when she purchased the supplies.
This truly was a work of HeART! 🧡🖤🇺🇸

Hey Hounds!
We want to give a shout out to two very special members of our Hound Family who were recently recognized for their impactful contributions to our students. Special Purpose Aide, Mrs. Meaders, and Instructional Specialist, Mr. Mertz, were honored by Solano County’s SELPA Community Advisory Committee for their outstanding accomplishments and service to individuals with special needs.
What an honor! We couldn’t be prouder. Their commitment and service to their students does not go unnoticed. Mrs. Meaders and Mr. Mertz make us so very and we are so lucky to have them on our team. 🧡🖤
