Serena Heaton is an eighteen-year-old graduate who has lived in Terrebonne for most of her life with her parents and two sisters. She enjoys reading, singing, and musical theater, having performed in several shows with Ovation Performing Arts since she was a freshman. In the fall, she plans to pursue a degree in English at Colorado Christian University. As she begins this fresh chapter in her life, she looks forward to learning new things, meeting new people, and exploring a new environment. Throughout high school and her whole life, she has had incredible support from her parents, who continually guide and encourage her in continuing to move forward and in taking big life steps. They have been wonderful godly role models, continually providing sound advice which she will follow, as well as the advice in one of her favorite quotes: "Live the life that unfolds before you. Jonas Graduates!

Congratulations, Jonas Farnsworth! Oregon Family School Class of 2021

My name is Jonas Farnsworth and I am a senior graduate, looking to further my studies as an English major at the University of Oregon this fall. I moved to Bend, Oregon three years ago after a two and a half year journey of full time travel across 49 states. I enjoy choir, theatre and free writing in my spare time. I’m looking forward to life after high school, as well as making new memories in college next year.

Tell us your favorite childhood memory.
My family and I traveled full time for two and half years across the nation. With 49 US
states, over 60 National Parks, and two months of international travel to Mexico, I had learned valuable life lessons that obliterated my small world perspective. The fundamental step from a traditional model of knowing, to a learn-by-experience approach, proved to be crucial in my development for critical thinking and educational complexity.

Tell us your favorite memory from high school.
When I first arrived in Bend, it was difficult for me to adjust to a new school. Having the ability to sing with the choir at Summit High School provided me with some of the most meaningful friendships of my life. Participating in in-state festivals, like the Anaheim Trip of 2019, were the best memories of my high school years.

What is your favorite quote?
“I am not a smart man, particularly, but one day, at long last, I stumbled from the dark woods of my own, and my family's, and my country's past, holding in my hands these truths: that love grows from the rich loam of forgiveness; that mongrels make good dogs; that the evidence of God exists in the roundness of things. This much, at least, I've figured out. I know this much is true.”
― Wally Lamb, I Know This Much Is True

What are your plans after high school?
I plan to attend the University of Oregon, studying English and American Literature. I hope to find study abroad opportunities while attending.

Are there any significant people in your life that you would like to thank? Who has helped you get where you are today?
I would like to thank both my parents who initiated unique ways of learning that have added to my depth of character. Both homeschooling and traveling has made me academically driven, and contributed to my work ethic and passion as a curious individual that will ensure my success as a college graduate.

Jonas Graduates! Schooled in all the ways - traditional, homeschool, and roadschool. He's not only graduating high school, he has an Associates Degree as a dual-enrolled stud...

Congratulations, Vincent Anello-Dennee! Oregon Family School Class of 2021

My name is Vinny Anello-Dennee and I am graduating from high school in 2021. I love music, video games, and my two cats. I am in the midst of getting my associates of engineering at COCC. My favorite subjects are math and science which tie into my passion of engineering.

Tell us your favorite childhood memory.
I went on a roadtrip to Las Vegas when I was 10, There I got to have lots of fun and enjoy the heat.

Tell us your favorite memory from high school.
When I took a trip abroad to stay in Germany as an exchange student as part of the Rotary Club's exchange program. I got to experience a culture that I was unfamiliar with. Even though Germany is a European country the differences were very easy to see.

Do you have any advice for younger students?
Don't slack off even if you can pass almost solely on tests.

What is your favorite quote?
“Whenever you remember times gone by, remember how we held our heads so high.”. — Carrie Underwood.

What are your plans after high school?
Earn a degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering and try to get a high paying job.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
working

What is one thing that you can't live without?
internet

If you won a free senior trip to ANYWHERE in the world, where would you go and why?
Tokyo, because I like their culture and attitude about life, it also has a lot of interesting tourist destinations.

Are there any significant people in your life that you would like to thank? Who has helped you get where you are today?
My mom dad, and my grandparents
