cation in the United States places heavy emphasis on teaching to a child’s mind, often ignoring the body and spirit. The pressure put on schools and teachers to prove that children are “successful” at school translates into test-driven, one-size-fits-all learning experiences. Children are being prepared to be good at receiving a grade, being an employee, and fitting into a mold. There is a paradigm shift happening, as families and educators are seeking more, thinking outside the box to design programs that honor the development of the whole child – mind, body, and spirit – and recognizing that the purpose of education should be to cultivate a sense of wonder and love of learning that extends not only beyond the classroom but the entire life of each child.
