COCC Gender & Sexuality Alliance

We've had a request from several club members to go on a field trip to the pumpkin patch/corn maze as a group this year, and we'd like to make that request a reality! The only weekend we will be able to do so is the weekend of Oct. 27th/28th. There will be a link to a survey in our bio (this was originally an Instagram post. Facebook users click here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/7HGMVZP ) which lists all of the available times we could go. If you're interested, please click said link and mark the times when you're available.
We will decide on a final time and have a sign up sheet at our next club meeting this Friday, so anyone interested in going should try their best to make it, or RSVP through email (also linked in our bio) as soon as possible. If all goes according to plan, transportation and cost of entry for the corn maze will be provided by the club. If you would like to bring a pumpkin home with you or make any other purchases, we encourage you to bring some money with you as well.

We're (almost) officially back in business! Fall term is a go.
Meeting times for this term are 10:30-12:30 every Friday, officially starting next week. However, if you'd like to hang out with us early, we will be holding a more laid-back pre-meeting tomorrow at the usual time. We always meet in the Multicultural Center, which is located in COATS Campus Center on the Bend Campus. We look forward to seeing you all there, and we wish you a good fall term :)

Did y’all see our rad new logo? At our last meeting of the 2017-18 school year, we voted on the changing of our name to COCC’s Gender + Sexuality Alliance, or GSA! Traditionally, GSA was an acronym for “Gay-Straight Alliance”, but we didn’t feel this was an expansive enough title to encompass our diverse club population! The old GSA also left out a signifier for trans voices in the space, which are historically and systematically marginalized in LGBTQ+ spaces and the world over. We want to make sure that everyone is recognized for their experiences and contributions, under one umbrella word or another! We hope that our members, new and old, will feel recognized and represented under this new name! Can’t wait for the awesome new year ahead as the Gender+Sexuality Alliance, and we can’t wait to share space again soon for Fall 2018!!

Different name, same kick ass student engagement and community building events! Look out for updates over the summer as our new leadership takes over our instagram account!
