In the middle of June, we reflected on the journey the Aspen class took through their years at Bend Forest School. Each has a different story and one is as long as our school is old. No matter their length of time in the program they’ve all contributed in meaningful and unique ways to one another’s growth. We know they will each continue to grow in their community, as caring individuals, stewards of nature and lifelong learners.

Creativity is calming! The art of storytelling can bring us back to ourselves while also connecting us to our community.

From pre-K to 5th grade, at Bend Forest School, teachers model the art of storytelling throughout the year. When the time is right they hand the skills off to children to take their turn at a storytelling circle using puppets, pictures or simply their imaginations.

In the Kindergarten class the grocery store bit at the end of this story (told in a small group setting) became a running joke for a few weeks. It is always delightful to get a glimpse at the humor created my developing minds!

From Pre-K to 5th grade we explore many forms of feelings identification and emotional regulation.

We are not a one size fits all program. Using visuals, modeling, games and discussion we create a space for sharing, exploring and building deep understanding for our emotional states.

Bend Forest School is hosting a 6 session S.T.E.A.M. Studio at Wondery Art + Adventure School! This program is designed for students entering 3rd through 6th grade.

Students will explore:
🧮Ratios and fractions
📈Slope and graphing
🛠️Engineering and design
🎨2D and 3D string art

At the end of the program, students will share their strong art at our Art + Pi Show!

We are excited to announce our first Bend Forest School S.T.E.A.M. Studio at Wondery Art + Adventure School!

This August, Bend Forest School and Wondery are bringing together math, engineering, and creativity for a hands-on S.T.E.A.M. Studio designed for students entering grades 3–6.

Students will explore:
🧮 Ratios & fractions
📈 Slope & graphing
🛠️ Engineering & design
🎨 2D & 3D string art

By the end of the program, students will have transformed mathematical patterns into beautiful string art creations they can proudly share at our Art + Pi Show.

No advanced math or art experience required.
