Gingerbread Kids on the Loose! 🍪
Uh oh! A big gust of wind blew through art class today and our gingerbread kids flew away!
We made gingerbread kid paper sack puppets and now our sweet friends are off on an adventure beyond Skylark. If you happen to spot one while you’re traveling (or know someone who does!), we’d love to hear where they end up.

This month we traveled to France through art, stories, and language. Our preschoolers explored Claude Monet, read Monet’s Cat, and made their own gorgeous Monet-style paintings.
And a huge shoutout to Jeremiah—one of our amazing parents—who came in to teach us real French words! Merci beaucoup! 🎨📚💙

Happy Arbor Day from Skylark!
Today we celebrated trees—and the forests they make—by welcoming a very special guest… Smokey Bear!
The U.S. Forest Service joined us to share the true story of how brave firefighters rescued Smokey from a wildfire, and how he became a symbol of forest protection.
Our little learners talked about the importance of preventing wildfires, how to stay fire safe, and when to call 911 in an emergency.
Because as Smokey says…
“Only YOU can prevent wildfires!”
Thanks to the U.S. Forest Service for helping our little learners grow big hearts for nature! ❤️

💜 Purple Up for Military Kids! 💜
April is the Month of the Military Child, and Tueaday the Skylark staff and teachers proudly showed their spirit for Purple Up Day by dressing in purple and filling our school with decorations to celebrate the incredible strength, resilience, and bravery of military children.
We’re so proud to honor the young members of our community who make sacrifices every day while supporting their families in service. Thank you to military families for all you do—and to our amazing team for helping make this day so special! 💫🇺🇸💜

Skylark Children's Academy opening this fall, accepting students from now-closed Deschutes River Montessori School - KTVZ With the closure of Deschutes River Montessori School, many Bend-area parents are scrambling to find new summer child care for their children, some also having to arrange new enrollment options for the 2024-25 school year. One new option, Skylark Children's Academy, is opening Sept. 9.
