Technology is part of our children’s world. But at Seven Peaks, we believe it should serve learning, not compete with it.

In our middle school, technology is a targeted tool, not a constant presence. Students use digital tools when they add value, while plenty of learning still happens through books, discussion, hands-on experiences, paper and pencil, collaboration, and simply being present with one another.

We’re intentional about helping students become digitally capable without becoming digitally dependent. That includes learning how to evaluate information, communicate responsibly, navigate AI, and develop healthy technology habits.

It’s an approach that aligns with the important work of local organization Well Wired, founded by Seven Peaks parents Ami Formica and Brooke Mues, who advocate for healthy, intentional technology use for Central Oregon kids.

The goal isn’t less technology. It’s better technology use.

As we prepare for a new school year, our Head of School, Sam Adams, shares a timely reflection on one of the greatest gifts we can give our children: meaningful human connection.

Drawing from eight days spent backpacking in New Hampshire’s White Mountains, Sam explores why relationships, curiosity, and time away from the constant pull of the attention economy are essential to helping children become thoughtful, resilient, and compassionate learners.

In a world competing for our attention, what if school became one of the few places where students could truly focus on each other, their teachers, and the ideas that shape who they become?

Read Sam’s latest Peaks Post, “Why Human Connection Is Our Greatest Classroom,” and join us as we begin another year of inspiring a lifelong love of learning.

✨ Faculty Spotlight: Chrissy Boyd ✨
For over a decade, Mrs. Chrissy Boyd has inspired SPS students with her unwavering dedication, thoughtful guidance, and genuine love of learning.

As our 4th grade teacher, she has a remarkable gift for connecting with every child, helping each student recognize their strengths while encouraging them to set high expectations for themselves. Her classroom is a place where curiosity is celebrated, confidence grows, and every learner feels seen.

This summer, Mrs. Boyd embraced her own spirit of inquiry with an unforgettable adventure to Machu Picchu and The Galapagos! We are so excited to welcome her back and hear the stories, perspectives, and inspiration she’ll bring from her travels.

Summer may be quiet on campus, but behind the scenes there is plenty happening. While students are off making summer memories, our school is getting a little refresh of its own.

From freshly painted walls to brand new carpet, we’re giving some favorite spaces a fresh new look, all ready to welcome our students back this fall.

A huge thank you to Mr. Weylin for sharing his expertise, tackling projects big and small, and helping keep Seven Peaks looking its best. We can’t wait for everyone to see the updates!

There is something special about seeing Seven Peaks alumni return to campus.

This summer, Class of 2025 graduate Teddy is working with RAD Camps, bringing energy, leadership, and enthusiasm to a new generation of campers. Watching him interact with children on the very playground where he spent his own elementary years brings plenty of smiles and nostalgic delight to our community.

One of the greatest joys of being a Pre-K through 8th grade school is the long-term relationships that grow over time. Our students leave Seven Peaks, but they remain part of our story.

Fun fact: RAD Camps founder Chance Caruso is also a Seven Peaks alumnus. We love seeing our graduates continue to make a positive impact in Bend and beyond.

Once a Seven Peaks student, always part of the Seven Peaks family. 💙💛
