Benbrook JROTC

Benbrook JROTC JROTC is a military regulated high school program whose purpose is to educate high school students in leadership roles while making them better citizens.

The Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) is a program offered to high schools that teaches students character education, student achievement, wellness, leadership, and diversity. It is a cooperative effort between the Army and the high schools to produce successful students and citizens, while fostering in each school a more constructive and disciplined learning environment. The outc

omes of the JROTC program are:
Act with integrity and personal accountability as they lead others to succeed in a diverse and global workforce
Engage civic and social concerns in the community, government, and society
Graduate prepared to excel in post-secondary options and career pathways
Make decisions that promote positive social, emotional, and physical health
Value the role of the military and other service organizations
With the school’s support, the JROTC program achieves these outcomes by using a world-class 21st Century, technology driven, student centered curriculum. The curriculum consists of education in citizenship, leadership, social and communication skills, physical fitness and wellness, geography, and civics. The curriculum is facilitated and taught by retired Army personnel. Qualified retired Army personnel are employed by the schools to teach the JROTC curriculum. JROTC teacher qualifications are based on military experience, maturity, stability, and leadership acquired over 20 years of service to our nation. To safeguard the viability of the JROTC program, the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Department of Education endorse the proposition that states recognize that JROTC instructors are certified to teach JROTC and the array of subject areas embedded (e.g., Physical Education, Health/Wellness, Civics, etc.). JROTC is a successful program, making substantial contributions to students, schools, and communities which benefit greatly from its presence. The benefits of JROTC are reflected in metrics impacting all schools in the U.S.

I enjoyed writing this book for all of the wonderful people I have worked with over the years who provide student transportation.

Our bus drivers are truly a blessing to every member of our community. They serve as teachers, coaches, and mentors to our children. They advocate for those who cannot do it themselves. most importantly, they provide a safe environment and do their very best to greet our children with a smile every day!

I hope you enjoy this short collection of stories derived from real-world experiences and great people.

It is available online on Amazon in e-book, paperback, and hardcover.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I would like to take the opportunity to thank you so very much for your professionalism, support, and dedication to our program and our campus. Since 2014, the Benbrook Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) program has been successful because of your unwavering support to our students, our numerous activities, and our demanding schedule.

Establishing our campus legacy has been an enjoyable experience to say the least! I have enjoyed working with great teachers, coaches, and administration over the past few years. I will definitely miss Benbrook and the wonderful community we support. Our students are amazing and worth the extra effort every day!

As I move forward to a leadership position outside the district, I would ask that you support the incoming Senior Army Instructor with the kindness and compassion you have shown Master Sergeant and I. Please welcome the new instructor into the Bobcat Family!

Thank you so much for everything!
