Something I’m seeing a lot nowadays is people commenting negative things on our posts or ads because they train somewhere else or do a different style that they believe is superior.

Remember respect is one of the core attributes of martial arts. Respect the people you know, respect the people you don’t know, respect the people you like, respect the people you don’t like.

If you’re a student or family member that trains at Elevate Martial Arts. Or maybe even just a friend of ours. Please never comment something negative on another martial arts schools post out of love or defense for us.

In every class we say Elevate My Life, Elevate My Family, Elevate My Community. Martial arts is great for the community and we’re happy when anyone gets the opportunity to train whether it’s at our school or somewhere else. A community with martial arts is a safer and stronger community. So let’s rejoice when someone gets the chance to train no matter where it is.

Communication - to talk and to listen.

This is the lifeskill that we’ve been focusing on for two weeks with the students. It’s important to remember that certain things that you may think are common sense are usually things that kids have to on purpose practice. Instead of just expecting kids to automatically be professionals at making friends or making great first impressions. Let’s take time to actually explain to them what it means to have healthy communication and demonstrate what that looks like. In our instructor trainings we practice having conversations with students and listening to the things that they care about. The days of students being afraid to ask questions to their martial arts instructors are gone. If you don’t feel safe asking a question then you’ll become comfortable lacking wisdom and that’s a dangerous place to be. A HEALTHY TEAM COMMUNICATES.

Why do we hand out stripes in our classes? We know from years of research and child development that short term goals are crucial to long term success. Every stripe you get is one step closer to your next belt, which is one step closer to black belt! As a team achieving these goals are crucial for the moral of the group and highly important for creating a highly motivated individual.

At Elevate Martial Arts we accept everyone and we always say “we’re a team” no matter what you look like, where you come from, or what you believe in. I have always been open about my faith on the mats and I will always be.
If God can do it for me he can do it for you. We have a lot of parents that tell us they’ve always wanted to take class but they think they’re too old or out of shape to be able to train. My faith, my community, and martial arts were the three things that brought me from being paralyzed to being back to training. If you’re wanting a community and help with elevating your life we can provide you with those things! All it takes is a little trust and consistency but I know martial arts can change your life.
