New friendships are always waiting to be made at Lesnoe Ozero❤️

Villagers join "families" at Lesnoe Ozero, and spend their time with them during the summer. This is the Valikhanov family (named after a 19th century Kazakh scholar) doing their family cheer at the Team-Building Olympics activity!

Through games, activities, learning, and time spent outdoors, villagers have countless opportunities to connect and get to know one another. Stepping outside their comfort zones together can turn new experiences into lasting friendships.

Who would you bring along for a summer at Lesnoe Ozero?

There's no better way to get moving then a line dance!💃

Lesnoe Ozero staff choreographed a line dance to the song Соловей (Solovei, Nightengale) by the Ukrainian band Go_A. Fun fact: it was the first song entirely in the Ukrainian language to be chosen for Eurovision! At Lesnoe Ozero, we've always taught villagers about a variety of cultures and countries where Russian is widely spoken❤️

What's your favorite song or dance from a different country?

At Lesnoe Ozero, learning doesn’t have to happen inside a classroom🌲

From crafting and learning to playing outside, villagers get to enjoy the benefits of fresh air, movement, and time spent in nature while surrounded by the beauty of the village. The outdoors creates space to explore, connect, and make memories while learning Russian along the way.

What’s your favorite way to learn outside?

At Lesnoe Ozero, dancing gets villagers moving, laughing, and learning together💃🕺

Villagers are not only learning new dances and being active, they’re also experiencing another way to connect to a culture through language and movement. Every step, song, and beat is another way to learn a new language together.

What song or dance would you want to learn at Lesnoe Ozero?

08/12/2026

Some of the strongest connections begin with a shared language❤️

From meals and activities to late-night conversations, every day at Lesnoe Ozero brings opportunities to build lasting friendships. Long after the summer ends, those village connections continue to bring people back year after year.

Who is someone you met at the village that you're still friends with today?

Language is just one part of the story🌎🎶

Through traditional music, cultural clothing, and hands-on activities, Lesnoe Ozero villagers experience the customs that give a language its meaning. By exploring every aspect of a culture, they develop a deeper understanding of the world around them, and a richer, more meaningful connection to the language they're learning.
