Who says learning has to happen at a desk🌳

At Sen Lin Hu, the great outdoors is part of the classroom! Getting outside can boost engagement and help make learning more memorable. When villagers learn through movement, exploration, and real-world experiences, those new words and ideas have a way of sticking with them long after they leave.

What’s something you’ve learned better by getting outside?

Waldsee villagers got a front-row seat to a partial solar eclipse🌞🌘

They’ve been keeping an eye out for the Perseids meteor shower, but the clouds have had other plans. Here’s hoping for clear skies and a little more stargazing magic✨

Gwangbokjeol is celebrated each year on August 15th and commemorates Korea's liberation from Japanese colonial rule, and the restoration of the nation's independence.

Across South Korea, the day is marked with ceremonies, the raising of the Korean flag, patriotic music, cultural performances, and moments of reflection on the country's history and resilience.

At Sup Sogŭi Hosu, we join in honoring this important holiday by celebrating Korean history, culture, and the enduring spirit of the Korean people!

Obon is a Buddhist festival that honors and remembers ancestors, celebrating the enduring connections between past and present🏮✨

At Mori no Ike, we also take this time to remember the villagers, staff, faculty, and family who have been part of our lives and have since passed away. Their kindness, friendships, and love of language and culture continue to inspire our community, and their memories remain a cherished part of Mori no Ike.

Year after year, villagers return to Al-Wāḥa for so much more than learning Arabic💚

They come back for the friendships, learning, songs, conversations, the time spent exploring the outdoors, and the feeling of belonging to a community that feels like home. Every summer means new memories mixed with the traditions that make Al-Wāḥa so special.

Let us know what keeps you coming back to Al-Waha year after year!

Finnish filled the halls at Concordia College last week during the Minnesota Music Educators Association's All-State camps.🎶

The choir sang "Käppee," a song first performed by the Finnish group Värttinä, and was transcribed with permission by Concordia alumna Greta Johnson '26. The students brought Finnish language and music together in a beautiful performance, showing how language learning can connect us through the universal language of song. Hope you enjoy this clip!

Have you ever sung a song in another language? Let us know what it was in the comments!
