Muddy Boots has a Permit to Carry schedule for Saturday, May 4, 2024 at the Senior Center in Blakduck, MN. Doors will open at 8:30 AM with the class starting at 9:00 AM. Class will last between 4 and 5 hours, with range time depending on the n;umber in the class. We will be shooting at the old federal gravel pit south of Blackduck on the Scenic Highway. PREREGISTRATION IS REQUIRED so I can have your Certificates available for you. Click on the link to the left for more details, registration and payament. See you on May 4, 2024.

The Mass Shooting at Top’s Grocery; They had an armed security guard who was able to get several rounds center mass (as per his training) only to be met with body armor and was killed by the perpetrator. Do you know what to do if you were confronted by an encounter like this?

Muddy Boots will be closed May 28th through June 10th due to my fiancé’s back surgery. Prior to returning I’ll be posting an updated class schedule.

Muddy Boots’ classes will begin with a classroom presentation, coupled with range time for understanding, learning, and developing new techniques and skills needed to effectively use your firearm in a violent encounter.

I’m currently focusing on, Permit to Carry (in Person), Basic Pistol, Defensive Shooting Fundamentals, and Home Defense.

• PTC focuses on conflict avoidance, the legal use of force, where you can legally carry with minimal focus on fi****ms.
• Basic Pistol (Beginner or Intermediate) focuses on basic handgun knowledge, grip, stance, sight alignment, and marksmanship.
• Defensive Shooting Fundamentals (Intermediate and Advanced) is about transitioning from marksmanship (accuracy) to defensive (speed and accuracy). Learn how to use Cover, Concealment, and Barriers. Also, how to use Point/Instinct Sighting, Flash Sight Picture, Precision Sighting.
• Home Defense is a focus on how to fortify your home. Do you know what to do if your home is invaded? How to communicate with family and other occupants in times of stress or danger.

As a professional, I am always training and attending classes to increase and improve my skill set. This summer I will be will be in Cascade, WI, July 25th thru 27th for a 3-day Defensive Shooting Class and later a 2-day class on Handgun Proficiency to improve and increase my knowledge and skills in these areas. It is April 22, 2022, the weather forecast is, God only knows. It is that time of year when it can rain and snow all at the same time. One thing for certain, crime does not stop for the weather.

I have noted an increase of activity on my page. I thank the folks who have visited my page.

The current focus is, Permit to Carry (PTC), Basic Pistol, Defensive Shooting Fundamentals, and Home Defense. All my classes will focus on how to avoid a violent encounter, and developing the skills need to use the tools of self-defense.

• Basic Pistol focuses on handgun knowledge, grip, stance, sight alignment, and marksmanship.

• Home Defense is a focus on how to harden your home, to knowing what to do if your home is invaded.

Group lessons vary in size from five (5) up to 20.

Growing up in Warroad, MN, it wasn’t hard to be immersed in the fi****ms, and hunting culture. The fall of 1966, I attended the DNR Hunter Safety Program. That started my love of the shooting sports. After completing Drafting School at Bemidji Area Vo Tech, I enlisted in the Navy.

There my interest in shooting expanded into competitive pistol and rifle shooting. During my 17-year tenure with the Navy, my main occupation was a surveyor, and draftsman. Due to my proficiency with fi****ms, I spent many hours on the range as a fi****ms instructor.

Upon retiring, with a desire to share my love of fi****ms, the shooting sports, and talking with friends, I realized there is a definite need for an excellent fi****ms training academy, thus Muddy Boots Fi****ms Academy.
