Belton New Tech at Waskow

I am pleased to announce that Allison Poppenhusen will be joining us next year in a new role as assistant principal!

Alli has served 8 years in education, specifically with us at New Tech, serving as a social studies teacher, special education teacher, instructional coach, and now as our newest administrator.

I'm excited to have her join our leadership team to help shape and achieve our ambitious goals over the coming years!

BelTech Expo may not have looked exactly like what was originally planned… but honestly, that’s what made it such a perfect reflection of who we are at New Tech!

By combining pieces of TechFest, ICE Awards, and Trashion Show, the Expo turned into something completely unique: part celebration, part showcase, part creative chaos — and fully centered around our students and their talents.

This event came together at the very end of a long and challenging year, and it took every bit of creativity, flexibility, teamwork, and determination to pull it off. Students and staff alike jumped in, adapted on the fly, and found ways to make things happen — which is exactly what New Tech is all about.

Was it perfect? Of course not. But the energy, the innovation, the art, the laughter, the runway moments, the awards, the projects, and the sense of community made it something really special.

BelTech Expo reminded us that some of the best moments happen when people come together, work with what they’ve got, and create something meaningful anyway.

And if this was only year one, we can’t wait to see where it goes from here!! 💚🐉

And that’s a wrap on the 25-26 school year, Dragons!! The day started with some silly senior pranks🤪 followed by Senior Breakfast! Another shoutout to everyone who contributed to this early morning feast. Then there was some serious ping pong competition happening in Mrs. Kaer’s room, so of course Coach Wedemeyer and Mr. Plemons had to get in on the action.😂 The day ended with the traditional student walkout (video coming), a few tears, and a whole lot of love for our amazing school.❤️💜

When it’s the last week of school and you have to turn in your MacBook…you get a little creative!😉💜❤️ Only at New Tech would we see a student walking around with a typewriter!! It was just too good not to share.😂 Shoutout to freshman, Alex Gentry for the last Monday of school entertainment!

What a week this has been!! After the senior trip to Austin Park & Pizza on Monday, Tuesday was Back to Elementary, where students got to pay a visit to their former BISD elementary schools! Then, they did their traditional walk down New Tech and BECS hallways, followed by Senior Luncheon, generously provided by our awesome senior parents. But that’s not all! The day’s festivities ended with an amazing Senior Awards Ceremony, where every single one of our graduates were honored for all of their accomplishments!
It’s been so much fun watching this amazing group of seniors enjoying all of the traditional New Tech Grad Week fun. Just one more sleep til Graduation, Class of 2026!!
