Launching my own business as a single mom has definitely come with challenges, and I'm figuring a lot out as I go.

There have been days where I wasn't feeling well, days where I didn't have childcare, clients had things come up, or maybe our schedules just didn't align at an earlier time.

Things happen. We're human.

We raise butterflies every year.

We typically have painted ladies, monarchs, or both.

For monarchs, we try to find milkweed plants on the side of the road before our township mows them down. This season, we found two mature caterpillars (they formed a chrysalis the very next day).

Both emerged successfully. They are both female (males have little dots on their lower wings). We released them the same day.

Our family has been through a lot of big changes this year. It's been a bummer that I just didn't get my garden going the way I wanted to.

Then recently, my front mulch beds sprouted pumpkins and sunflowers.

Sometimes the universe blesses you when you don't expect it. Life is full of changing tides. When things get hard, better things are right around the corner.

We may not have had the garden we wanted, but we still had a lot of wins.

And now, we also have a lot of tiny pumpkins. 🧡
