"Don’t doubt what God can do," said Fr. Jarett Konrade at Mass this morning. "God is God and you are not."

"'Uh duh, of course I’m not God,' you might be saying... Really?"

"How come we still think we have things under our control? We tend to put people in boxes of what we expect, we don’t pray for the conversion of people who, well, we think they’re too far gone. Why waste my prayers on that person?"

"In doing so, we're undercutting God’s timeline and what he wants to do."

"That’s the moral of the story today because we hear that passage from the Gospel: 'Stay awake.' You don’t know God's timeline... You don’t know how many days you have left. It’s a reality of this life."

"Strive to keep focused on what matters and stay away from the other stuff."

"St Monica [whose feast is celebrated today] diligently prayed for years for the conversion of her husband and her son, St Augustine... They did convert.

"But, so often we don’t pray like that. We think God won’t do what we want.."

"Don’t lose hope, don’t lose trust, don’t lose that resolve that God can do amazing things… and he wants you to stay awake, stay prayerful. Don’t doubt what God can do."
