We’re excited to share the West Branch Agriculture Education Program was featured in the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce “Field Trip” video series, in Episode 5: Growing Ohio.
🎥 The Field Trip series highlights unique learning experiences and programs happening in schools across Ohio, and we were fortunate to be selected as one of the featured districts this month.
👷 The video was filmed as we were beginning construction on our livestock barn, giving a look into the Grow Ohio Grant that was utilized and how our students are involved in the entire process.
🐮 Now we’re in Year 2 of our project, a group of new feeders are in the barn, students across the district are enjoying local and school raised beef in their lunches, and our Agriculture Department students and FFA members are still in charge of management decisions, daily care, and everything our cattle and facilities need.

AFNR learned all about FFA Official Dress today!

They worked in groups to dress up a model in Official Dress… and let’s just say, there were some interesting fashion choices.. definitely a fun way to learn what to wear (and what NOT to wear) for FFA events!

Our FFA members had a great day at Farm Science Review exploring new technology, equipment, and opportunities in the agriculture industry. We’re always thankful for opportunities to get outside the classroom and see agriculture in action! 🚜🌽🌾

Our new cattle officially made their way into the barn last night, just in time for Back to School Bash!

A few special shoutouts to some of the people who have already helped us out this year:

🐮 Brady Baker at Sugarcreek Stockyards for helping us find our cattle and getting them delivered to the barn!

🌾 Todd Unkefer at UFashion Jerseys for donating hay for our cattle for the year!

🌽 Homeworth Feed Mill for supplying our cattle feed throughout the year!

And a huge thank you to everyone else who has helped out, pitched in, or supported the program so far. We appreciate all of the support that goes into making opportunities like this possible for our students! Thank you to everyone who stopped out tonight at Back to School Bash!

The barn is cleaned up and ready for a new crew!

Last year’s steers have officially made their way from our barn to our school cafeteria, and now we’re getting ready to welcome this year’s group. These steers will be raised right here by our FFA members and, just like last year’s, will eventually make their way to the cafeteria to be served to our students.
