A few of our officers made a short, but sweet trip to State FFA convention in Manhattan on Thursday!

In the morning session, we watched Kayley McGuire receive a state SAE grant, and Lane Jones (represented by Tripp) receive his state SAE grant.

Kade Pearson won a State Proficiency Award in the area of Vegetable Production and will compete at Nationals in October.

In the afternoon session, we received a chapter seed program award (not pictured)

We had 5 teams compete at State FFA Contests over the past 3 days in Manhattan. While we didn’t end up where we would have liked, the kids all had great learning experiences and worked hard!

Congratulations to Kade Pearson for being selected as the April FFA Member of the Month!

Kade has been a highly active member and officer (Sentinel) this year and we appreciate all he has done for the chapter. Kade has attended all meetings, went to Husker Harvest Days, Industry Tours, and National Convention, provided snacks for our service project, worked several concession stands including Nut Fry, has assisted with Ag in the Classroom days, worked the Parents as Teachers Fall Fest, decorated at Hilltop for Christmas, participated in all FFA Week Activities, competed in Milk Quality, won Districts for his Proficiency Award area, and was recently named a State Finalist!

Whew, that's a lot! Congratulations again, Kade! Your hard work and dedication to our chapter has not gone unnoticed!

The Beloit FFA Plant Sale will begin next week!

Wednesday, May 6 we will be open 6:30-9:00pm during the project fair. Then we will be open again Thursday, May 7 from 3:30-6:30pm. We will be selling out of the Ag Shop.

Chapter members took a trip to Grand Island, NE today to tour the Case IH manufacturing plant. The facility is home to Case IH Axial-Flow® Combines and also assembles several types of Hay & Forage equipment including self-propelled windrowers and headers.

35% of the combines manufactured from this plant are shipped internationally. The combines are built to order and the new AF combines are built with 18,000 parts. If you order a combine from Case, they will let you know the exact date and time it will be ready and you can be the very first to turn the key and start it up. After testing is completed, you can drive it off the line and out of the plant.

We had a great experience and learned a ton about the manufacturing process!
