The UL Art Dept has been extremely busy this year and I am so very proud of all of my students accomplishments and achievements in Art!
Kyleigh Leach , a 11th-grader from Union Local High School, earned a spot in the Ohio House of Representatives Art Exhibition at the Vern Riffe Center in Columbus. This show is a very special one that only invites one student from each of Ohio's 99 districts to represent their district and Kyleigh was chosen to represent our 96th District.
Her Colored Pencil piece titled " Do You See What I See?!" is an original photo she took of her brother, mother and dog. This piece was selected from her previous accomplishments of being selected from the top 300 pieces in the state of Ohio in the Ohio Youth Governors Art Exhibition in Columbus in May and also by receiving 1st place for UL at the Belmont County Art Show in March.
The Ohio House of Representatives Show will begin to be installed in late June and on September 28th, a reception will be held in which Kyleigh will receive a certificate, an award, and special recognition for her achievement!

In addition to the great news above, the Senior Wall Gallery located in the school has two new pieces by an Art 2 student Ava Bretz with her charcoal drawing and an Art 4 student, Norah Blecher, for her self portrait in Chalk Pastels.

The last few photos are pieces from this year's Belmont County Show held in March in which the Belmont County teachers placed several students with various awards of 1-5 place and 5 merit award winners.
1st Place- Kyleigh Leach- Art 3 " Do You See What I See?!"
2nd Place Ava Bretz- Art 2 Charcoal " Siblings are Always Butting Heads"
3rd Place Madison Tingler- Freshman Art 1 Graphite
" Sunkissed"
4th Place Maggie Ellis - Art 4 Watercolor " A Few of My Favorite Things"
5th Place Norah Blecher - Art 4 Clayboard "The Gaze of the Observer"
Merit Award Winners:
Layla Parker- Freshman Art 1 - Scratchboard "The Eyes of Winston"
Baylee Huml- Sophomore Art 2- Charcoal " Bring the FIRE!!!"
Kyree Nobel - Junior Art 3- Chalk Pastels " We All Scream for Ice Cream!!!"
Kyree Noble - Junior Art 3 Chalk Pastels- " Dandelion Wishes"
Kyleigh Leach- Art 3 Chalk Pastels " Play?!"

Congratulations everyone and THANK YOU for such a wonderful Blessed year!!! And a BIG THANK YOU for your guardians for giving me the privilege for allowing me to teach your very TALENTED BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN!!! :)))

Congratulations to our Union Local winners for this year‘s Stifel Art show! Second place in ceramics, went to Norah Blecher with her piece titled “Life in the fishbowl“; second place drawing went to Baylee Huml for her charcoal, titled “Bring the Fire!“; third place in photography went to Kyleigh Leach for her piece, titled “My World is Off-center“; and third place drawing went to Savanna Springer for her scratchboard, titled “Silver Apple of my Eye“.

Congratulations to all the students who made the pre-juried cut with only two pieces from Union Local that were juried out from the 300 works of art that were entered from 14 schools.
A total of 122 pieces that made the show will be on display until February 9 at the Stifel arts center in Wheeling West Virginia, and admission is free.

Thank you again to the Stifel Arts Center for allowing a venue to showcase our students work again!

This was another wonderful successful year and I thank all of the students from those 14 schools who created such wonderful pieces to be on display for others to enjoy ☺️
