If more than one post by the same individual must be deleted, the district reserves the right to block that individual from our accounts. Genesee Valley Central School social media accounts are followed by students in our schools. It is our belief that we must model respectful and kind behavior on these accounts.

Take a moment to meet our new Elementary Music Teacher, Sarah Glick!

Miss Glick previously taught General/Vocal Music at Canaseraga Central School, and holds her undergraduate degree in Music Education with a Vocal Emphasis from Houghton College, along with a graduate degree in Middle School Curriculum and Instruction from Liberty University.

In her free time, she enjoys reading, listening to music, and playing piano.

Miss Glick is looking forward to meeting new people and growing in her abilities this year.

Kelley McGinnis is joining us as a Math Teacher, teaching Algebra and Geometry along with Math AIS.

Mrs. McGinnis previously taught middle school ELA right here at GVCS and worked as a strategic interventionist in Springfield, Missouri. She holds her Bachelor of Arts in Middle School Education (Math and ELA) and a graduate degree in Organizational Leadership, both from Evangel University.

Outside the classroom, she enjoys traveling, attending sporting events, and a good bowl of pasta or ice cream.

Mrs. McGinnis is looking forward to getting to know her students and helping them grow in their math skills this year.

Meet another new face at GVCS this year! Anna Sortore is joining us as our Long-Term Substitute 8th Grade English Teacher.

Mrs. Sortore graduated in May from SUNY Fredonia with both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in English Adolescence Education, and has since worked as a short-term substitute for local school districts. In her free time, she enjoys working with her dog and writing.

Mrs. Sortore is looking forward to learning alongside her students this year and building a classroom that motivates them to develop skills they can use both in and outside of English class.

There's a new face at the front door welcoming everyone into GVCS this year! πŸ’šπŸ–€

Mandy Alsworth is joining us as our Receptionist, greeting students and families at the main entrance welcome center and handling attendance.

She previously worked in the Northern Potter Kindergarten classroom and office, and at Wellsville Secondary School managing high school attendance and the security door.

When she's not at GVCS, she's usually at the motocross track or spending time outdoors.

Mrs. Alsworth is looking forward to meeting new people and building on the great things she's already heard about the GVCS community.

Morgan Hamer is joining us as a 1st Grade Teacher this year! (She is pictured here with her dad.) πŸ’šπŸ–€

Ms. Hamer spent the past two years teaching 1st grade at Cortland Enlarged City School District, and holds both her undergraduate degree in Childhood Education and her graduate degree in Literacy Education from SUNY Cortland.

Outside the classroom, she enjoys camping, gardening, reading, paddleboarding, and trying out new recipes.

Having grown up in Belfast, Ms. Hamer is excited to return to a small community like the one that shaped her, and to give back this time as a teacher.

As we head into the new school year, we want to make sure families are aware of two new policies for students in grades 7-12.

BACKPACKS & LOCKERS
All students will be required to store their backpacks and any other bags in their assigned locker during the school day. Lockers and locks are school property, and only school-issued locks may be used.

ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY
Students in grades 7-12 participating in athletics or extracurricular activities are expected to maintain satisfactory academic progress. Eligibility reports are generated weekly based on grades submitted by 9:00 a.m. each Monday. A student failing one class will be placed on academic probation but may continue participating. A student failing two or more classes will become academically ineligible until the next report is generated.
