Good afternoon, Catawba Heights Hurricane Families. This is Principal Glenn with your weekly Hurricane Update.

Thank you to our staff and students for doing such a great job practicing our safety evacuation drills this past week, including our Tornado Drill. This coming week, we will continue to practice a few more safety drills and procedures to ensure everyone is prepared.

On Monday, August 25th, and Tuesday, August 26th, please note that Bus 503 students will be a 2nd load in the afternoon. This means students on Bus 503 will not leave Catawba Heights Elementary until around 3:15–3:30 PM. Families are welcome to pick up their students on those two days if you would like.

On Wednesday, August 27th, our 3rd graders will take the Beginning of Grade (BOG) Test. To encourage strong attendance, any 3rd grade class with 100% attendance that day will earn a Popsicle Party! Let’s cheer them on as they do their best.

Health and Wellness Reminder:

As we move through cold and flu season, please help us keep everyone healthy by following these guidelines:

Keep your child home if they have a fever of 100.4°F or higher.

Students may return to school once they have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicine.

If your child stays home due to illness, please send a parent or doctor’s note for the absence.

By working together, we can help keep our school community safe and healthy, which allows for the best teaching and learning environment.

Thank you for your continued support, and remember our school vision: We believe, we achieve, and we succeed together!

Go Hurricanes!

¡Vamos, Hurricanes!
