Good evening, Gaston Virtual Academy Secondary families!
This is Rebecca Wilson, Principal of the Secondary Campus for grades 6–12, with the weekly update for the week of October 11, 2026.
Students who are taking Math 3 this semester must come to campus on Wednesday for a state check-in. Students are to be dropped off at the GVA entrance by the buses at 9am. They are to be picked up at the same entrance at 11am.
When students are on campus, they will go through Gaston County Schools security protocol. Students will also need to comply with:
○ Not having personal technology on, visible, or in use. This includes, but is not limited to phones, headphones, AirPods, smartwatches, tablets, and smart glasses.
○ All hats, hoods, or any other non-religious head coverings must be down or off of the student’s head.
○ Dress for school. This means all parts are covered.
The first nine-week grading period ends on Tuesday, October 13. All assignments due October 11 at midnight will be the last assignments for this grading period. Assignments due October 11 will only have until October 13 to be turned in for late credit. Please make sure your student completes all assignments by their due date.
Parent/Teacher Conferences are Thursday, October 15. Teachers are sending parents directions on how to reserve time for that day. If you have not received any information yet, you will receive it tomorrow. We would love to have ALL parents participate in conferences. Due to Conferences, we will NOT have live instructional sessions on Thursday.

School Pictures for students in Grades 6-10 will be Friday, October 16, at Stuart Cramer High School from 9am - 2pm. Students pay at the camera or pre-pay using the information attached to this message. The flier is linked to the electronic version of this message.
School pictures for students in Grades 11 and 12 will be on Wednesday, October 28, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Students can pay at the camera or pre-pay using the information attached to this message. Seniors must pay a $15 sitting fee if they want a cap and gown photo.

CTE classes have started. Middle school students will take their course via Edgenuity. High School students received an email from me with the login information to the program they will be using for their course.

October 14 - Math 3 NC Check-In 9:00 - 11:00
October 15 - Parent Conferences - no live instructional sessions
October 16 - School pictures for grades 6-10 at Stuart Cramer (9am - 2pm) and an Optional Workday
October 26 - Biology NC Check-In (Heredity)
October 28 - Junior and Senior Pictures at Stuart Cramer (9am - 12:30pm)
October 28 - Career Day for Juniors and Seniors at Stuart Cramer 10am - 12pm
October 28 - Teacher Workday - no school for students
