In Exploratory Language class, students learned about La Befana, the legendary Christmas witch who visits children across Italy on January 6th, leaving treats for those who have been good. After reading the story, students created Befana posters and hung their stockings with excitement—now we’re waiting to see if La Befana makes a special stop in our classroom!

Students in Mrs. Piraino’s language classes celebrated Thanksgiving by reflecting on all they are grateful for. Many students expressed thanks for their families, friends, and the love and support in their lives. They also enjoyed a fun hands-on activity—creating festive M&M turkeys to take home and share!

Our 7th grade Home Language students have been diving deep into the world of literary elements, and their hard work is paying off! They’ve demonstrated their understanding by plotting out stories using story charts—carefully identifying the exposition, conflict, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution.
It’s been amazing to watch their critical thinking and creativity grow as they analyze and structure narratives. From classic tales to original ideas, these young storytellers are truly shining stars in the classroom!

Students in Mrs. Piraino’s classes learned about Rosh Hashanah, the celebration of the Jewish New Year. They had the opportunity to taste some special foods from Jewish culture, including apples and honey, challah bread, and pomegranate. The end of the year is so close!! All 8th grade students taking the FLACS exam please see the schedule and report to your testing room when you enter the building on Monday, June 24! If you have testing accommodations your teacher will tell you privately where you will be taking the exam! Remember to study, study, study!! We aren’t on summer break just yet!
