Hi BFMS Family & Friends:

We're grooving into a new year and AIM Afterschool registration is now available! Sign up today :) Clubs will start on Wednesday October 13th with a variety of activities such as Photography, Drumming, Outdoor Bike Riding with the BF Project, Sign Language, Art Studio, Garden Harvest, and more!

AIM Afterschool offers activities 5 days a week, Monday through Friday, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM, free of cost. Students receive a healthy meal before activities, and transportation is provided for those that request it.

Well, the "Dog Days of Summer" are definitely here 😎

Due to the statewide heat advisory, we've made some plans to stay cool this week with water activities. The school building gets very warm later in the day, so we will be swimming at the Saxtons River (Wednesday/Friday) and Rockingham (Thursday) Rec during the afternoon portion of camp this week. Please make sure to send your child with their swimming gear, towel, and change of clothes.

Being in the water is a great way to beat the heat - here's some of our favorite water pics from this summer.

It's hard to believe we're down to our last few days together. Thank you to our campers, families, and staff for making this summer a memorable experience!

Our fun-filled learning day at the Vermont Institute of Natural Science included interactive exhibits with reptiles and raptors, a walk through the forest canopy, and getting up close with a majestic Bald Eagle named Elmwood. Elmwood was transferred to VINS over twenty years ago after she was found injured in Nebraska and declared unable to fly to due her amputated right wrist.

The weather actually worked out in favor today, and our hike up to the Pinnacle was a fun way to explore nature! ⛰🌳

It’s the final countdown…😎🌞We are so excited to see you next week! The first day of summer camp is next Tuesday, July 6.

Summer camp parents and families: Please check your emails for important information regarding first week of camp activities and bus routes. If you did not receive the message, please contact Ms. Orianna Baez ASAP! ([email protected])

⭐️Drop-off/Pickup: Camp drop off starts at 7:45 AM. Camp staff will not be available prior to that time, so we kindly ask that children are not dropped off unattended outside the school building prior to opening hours. On Fridays, we will depart for field trip by 8:30 AM. Camp pickup and dismissal occurs at 4:00 PM. 🌟

2021 marks our 8th year of summer camp and we look forward to making great memories!

P.S. - We want to send a huge shoutout to Rob at The Green Mountain Press in Downtown Bellows Falls for helping us with our cool T-shirt designs - great service and speedy turnaround time! All campers will receive a shirt on their first day. Please make sure they wear them during our Friday field trips.

As we wrap up afterschool activities for the 2020-21 school year, we'd like to thank all our students and their families for being a part of our program. Though it's been a very different year, we've been able to provide youth with unique opportunities to engage, connect, and grow.

Thank you for your support - we hope you all have a safe and healthy summer.

☀️Good news: The Vermont Department of Health guidelines for summer camps all point towards a safe return to “normal” in July (with safety protocols in place, of course). This means our New England trip radius will be changing. Stay tuned for our final (and fun!) trip list. Hint: 🐋🌊

A little rain didn’t scare us away 🥕🧑🏻‍🌾! This afternoon, gardeners cleaned up the fence along the green space with Ms. Massucco in honor of Green Up Day (two bags!). They also made some edible art with radish “roses” and carrot “curls.”
