SU***DE
I write this post after the news of the past several weeks that the su***de rate is increasing.
No ones, I repeat NO ONES life is as perfect as it appears to be on Facebook.
We all at one time in our lives have had our ups and downs, our happy and sad moments and our pain of fighting health issues, financial struggles and the loss of our loved ones.
It’s not weakness nor despair that cause us to doubt and wonder and feel down at different points in our life, but it is life itself.
While I can not speak for others I can say that life has its joys. Life has its times of feeling that all is bad and life can never be good, but this is a mistake.
I myself have lived thru a childhood without the true sense of a normal family.
My mother and father had been divorced my mother remarried and divorced again, never seeing my father until I was 12 and then only seeing him a half dozen times in my whole life, and finally living with my grandparents at the age of 11 or 12 on, after a school official discovered that I was in fact a battered child, as I was beaten regularly by my mother with a stick ball bat.
I worked a 40 hour a week job since I was 14, yes 14, and had many jobs to put myself thru college. ( pumped gas, Ice Cream Trucks, Drove a Cab, SIMONIZ Business, etc ) Had some major success in business employing over 100 people for about 20 years.
I lived thru a head on collision with a drunk driver, fought a fire in a NYC high rise office building, slid down a shoot of a commercial airliner with an engine on fire and lived thru an explosion where I was blown up.
I went thru a horrific divorce from my first marriage of 21 years that did take a toll on both my boys from that marriage. I also went thru some 40 plus major surgeries from 2002-2016 being hospitalized as many as 15-25 days each time. The pain I lived with and live with now would kill most people!!
I write this post not for any one to say wow or to have anyone feel badly, no sad faces please... but rather to encourage those that are out there thinking their life is hard. Thinking their life is over, ITS NOT !
I am no stronger mentally or physically than anyone of you, but, I have a strength of drive and moral fiber that my grandparents gave me along with all the love that any teenage boy could want.
So today, I live a life that many can only dream of. I love my careers as a Financial Advisor and as a Realtor.
I can not tell you how blessed I am, and how crazy in love I am with my wife Marion whom I have been with for the last 26 years.
I have 2 boys and 2 step sons along with daughter in laws and grandchildren.
I am lucky enough to have a few real friends.
I get up everyday to live my life as a good person and to make a difference in other people lives. I live by my philosophy of life by my 3 Commandments.
“ I get up everyday and do something good for myself, I get up everyday to do something good for someone I love and I get up everyday and do something good for a stranger.....I don’t always succeed but I try real hard.”
I’m not perfect and I am no saint.
I do have my priorities in life in the right place and I know right from wrong.
The point is, I have a marvelous life and I am truly content and happy with life in spite of all the challenges I have had.
If I had ever given up and committed the act of SU***DE I wouldn’t be here now to make a difference and love and be loved.
DON’T give in to yourself in a moment or a day or a week of weakness and feeling sorry for yourself.

PS
If you think you know someone going thru something, they might not be able to ask you for help, so you should ask them if your suspicious about them being in a bad place.... let them know your care, are there for them, and want to help.
