Kulshan HEMA A HEMA club specializing in 15th-16th century longsword and other historical weapon instruction. Classes every Tuesday @ 6:15 pm and Friday @ 6:30 pm.

We're a HEMA study group in Bellingham dedicated to the study of historical martial arts systems from medieval and renaissance Europe, focusing on Fiore dei Liberi's longsword fencing system. Sadly, our club location is no longer ours, and we are unable to meet until an alternative location is found. We will update this page once we have a new location to meet and study.

Hello, Fencers!

Our Tuesday night intermediate-focused Meyer Longsword class is open to new sign-ups!

This class takes students on a journey through the fundamentals of late-16th German Longsword according to the teachings of Master Joachim Meyer and his 1570 treatise on knightly combat.

We're going back to the basics for the first several sessions, so while the class is normally suited to Intermediate/ tournament-level fighters, we're open for anyone who wants to add some German fencing to their repertoire.

No prior fencing experience necessary, though students are recommended to also join the Friday beginner's class to work on their fundamentals if they're coming in fresh.

⚔️⚔️Hello, Bellingham!⚔️⚔️

We have two important questions for you:

1) Do you think swords are cool?

2) Do you want to learn how to use a cool sword?

If your answer to either of those is "yes!", then you're in luck.

We're offering beginner's longsword classes Friday nights @ 6:30pm at our location downtown. Focusing on the art of Armizare as penned by the Italian master Fiore dei Liberi, this class walks fencers through the fundamentals of two-handed longsword fencing.

If you want to come by and check it out, we offer FREE introductory sessions with one of our instructors. No experience or equipment necessary.

We also have an intermediate class focusing on Joachim Meyer's 1570 German treatise, and sparring on Mondays, both starting at 6:15.

So please, don't hesitate; come join us, make new friends, and learn to stab them!
