I have several years of experience navigating the paths that will lead you or your student to the school that is best for him/her.
There are colleges and universities for students with straight A averages, as well as C students. I can find schools that accept 100% of applicants, no matter the grades. There are schools for kids who want to play sports, want to live in a certain climate, etc.
Eliminate the countless hours of research and note taking that are required to help you get to the right place. Feel free to email us at [email protected].

Standing in the gym last night, taking in all the surrounding excitement and participation, I thought to myself…

WE ARE UNIFIED!

The official number says there were 980 plus in attendance last night but we had to be over 1000. WHOA!

THANK YOU to everyone for showing up and supporting Unified Basketball!!! The atmosphere was electric! The students from both schools were awesome! Lola Russo did a phenomenal job with the National Anthem. The Band and both cheerleader squads kept the energy going all night long and the crowd engaged. The Dance teams were spectacular.

The game? Well, the game was a classic!! Both teams got to run through a massive student body tunnel followed by individual introductions of every player from both teams. Bellingham got out to a double-digit lead but Sehome did not give up, making a ferocious comeback before falling just short 35-31. There was no quit from either team.

The win, the loss, the score though doesn’t matter. What matters is the players played their hearts out and had a lot of fun in the process. Every player is a winner. We as coaches, parents, fellow students, community members were just there to ride their coattails.

Attending the game last night were Mick Hoffman and Leah Francis from the WIAA and John Borgogne, VP of Sports and Programs for Special Olympics Washington. They were all blown away and very appreciative of the support our schools and community put on display. This was a game to give these players an opportunity to play on a big stage and to showcase Unified Sports, not only for Bellingham or Sehome, but for the whole County and State. I believe, we succeeded in doing so and I am excited to see the next steps taken.

On behalf of myself, Coach Evans and Coach Schelle, and all the players, thank you for your support! Please support other Unified Sports. Unified Soccer starts March 17th.
See you next year for the next installment of Fill the Gym where we eclipse 1000 in attendance officially!

Erik Seholm
Did you notice the Unified Basketball game on the 20th vs Sehome at 6:45 at our Bellingham High?? Are you coming?? Both BHS and SHS teams would love to have your support. Please consider spending the evening with us!!

This is a FILL the GYM night. No cost to attend.
This is a night to show the Unified Basketball team, its athletes and partners, we support them and their efforts!

Unified basketball teams do not get the same treatment Varsity sports teams do. No National Anthems, no team introductions, no cheerleaders, no halftime shows. The 20th will be much different.

Scheduled activities are as follows:
- Team Introductions
- National Anthem
- Cheerleaders for both schools
- BHS Band performing before, during, after
- BHS Drumline and SHS drumline quarter end performances
- BHS and SHS Dance Team performances at halftime.
- AND ONE SPECTACULAR GAME

What is the difference between a Unified game and say a varsity basketball game? A Unified basketball team is made up of Athletes and Partners. There must be at least three Athletes on the floor at a time. Partners are there to help the Athletes succeed. Partners spend their efforts for the betterment of the team and rarely shoot the ball themselves.

ATHLETES
According to Special Olympics, athletes must be “identified by an agency or professional as having one of the following conditions: intellectual disabilities, cognitive delays as measured by formal assessment, or significant learning or vocational problems due to cognitive delay that require or have required specially designed instruction.”

PARTNERS
Partners are teammates to the athletes. To be a partner, you should have experience in basketball, like to work with people of different abilities, and have an interest in being a peer mentor to your teammates.
Quick question from the mom of a rising sophomore (mostly because of all the spam email I keep getting from them) - does anyone know how we go about providing a headshot of our BHS student to the school for the ID card and the yearbook, rather than going with the kinda predatory folks at Lifetouch?
Susannah Bloom and Jacqueline Fabian-Jaime made cookies for today’s AP Biology class, including a giant MEIOSIS cookie for Ms. Davis! Gotta love those chromosomes!
Bellingham High School Band took 3rd in their division at the Puget Sound Festival of Bands on Saturday!
Congratulations to Annika and your 2018 Northwest Conference Cross Country Team Champions: Grace M., Livi LH., Piper B., Izabelle A., Lily K-F., Louisa M., Abbie S., Skye S., and Lily M. Go Red Raiders!
Art Club begins next Wednesday after school -- 3:15-4:00, room145 :)
