Save The Date: ResTek (formerly ResTek & HITS) is turning 20-years old, and we’re having a reunion!



ResTek was founded in 1996, and over the 20 intervening years approximately 250 students have worked in WWU’s housing IT units in a wide variety of roles: from tech support to web development, from graphic design to server administration, and more.

In celebration of this milestone, and to kick off an effort to build a stronger network of current ResTek employees and ResTek alumni, we’re excited to invite you to our party.

When: Saturday, May 14th, 1:30 to 3:30pm
Where: Edens Hall 110, WWU
What: in conjunction with the WWU Alumni Association’s Back2Bellingham Weekend
How You Can Help:
We would love to see as many former employees as possible and make this a meaningful event.

The following are ways you can be involved:

• Spread the word to any of your former ResTek/HITS coworkers with whom you have kept in touch
• Follow us on Facebook, Twitter (), and/or LinkedIn (/groups/8358928), for updates on the event, and in order to connect with former coworkers prior to the reunion and beyond
• Message us if you feel that another collaborative web tool would be useful for organizing this event, along with suggestions you might have
• Message us if you would like to be involved in organizing the event in any way

What’s In A Name?

Starting in approximately 2007, the two University Residences IT units – ResTek & HITS – were merged into one unit called ResTek.

Since we anticipate doing a lot of outreach between now and the reunion, utilizing LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and email, in order to simplify our messaging we will be using ResTek as the one brand across all platforms. Likewise, this will serve as an opportunity to bring everyone into the ResTek family, as we set out to build a stronger network of current ResTek staff and ResTek Alumni beyond the reunion.

Why now?

In part motivated by ResTek's 20th birthday celebration planning, this is a group to find and communicate with staff that have worked at University Residences in technology roles. This includes the ResTek program, HITS and IT related jobs. Our vision is to have a place to network, mentor and share. In the short term, I'm hopeful that we can plan and coordinate a 20th celebration for May 2016.
