Different Types of Valves - Infographics ✅⚓️

Valves are essential components of piping systems because they control, regulate, or prevent the flow of fluids.

* Gate Valve – Mainly used for full open or full shut-off. It offers low resistance when fully open and is commonly used for isolation.
* Ball Valve – Uses a rotating ball and provides quick, tight shut-off. It is ideal for on/off operations.
* Butterfly Valve – Uses a rotating disc and is compact and lightweight, making it suitable for large-diameter pipelines.
* Globe Valve – Designed for throttling and precise flow control, but causes greater pressure loss than a gate valve.
* Check Valve – Allows flow in one direction only and automatically prevents backflow, especially useful at pump discharges.
* Plug Valve – Uses a rotating plug for quick isolation or flow direction control and is commonly used in fuel, cargo, and general piping systems.

In shipboard systems, proper valve selection and operation are important for safe and efficient ballast, bilge, fuel oil, cooling water, fire main, and cargo operations.

October is National Hunting & Fishing Month! 🎣🦆

Cold water, heavy gear, early morning low-light navigation, and sudden weather shifts make fall boating unique.

⚓ Essential Fall Safety Checklist:

🛟 Wear Your Life Jacket: Camo and low-profile life jackets fit comfortably over heavy hunting layers.

⚖️ Balance Your Load: Keep decoys, fishing tackle, dogs, and gear low and evenly distributed to prevent capsizing.

📝 Leave a Float Plan: Always tell someone onshore where you are going and when you expect to return.

💡 Check Your Lights: Ensure navigation lights work properly for those early dawn launches.

Stay safe, stay warm, and make every cast and hunt count this October!
