Hello students! Off Campus Living wants to remind you all to remember to keep your home and vehicle safe if you plan to go away on break this week. Follow the tips below to ensure that your home and vehicle are safe while you are away.

Vehicle Safety:
•Lock doors
•Secure belongings
•Don’t keep valuables in the open
•Make sure windows are closed
•Don’t keep spare key near vehicle
•Park in well-lit areas
•Be alert and aware of surroundings when you park

Home Safety:
•Leave heat on (no lower than 65 degrees to keep pipes from freezing)
•Secure all windows, doors, and valuables
•Leave a light on or on a timer
•Remove garbage, secure garbage and recycle bins
•Do the dishes, clean out fridge & pantry, clean in general
•Unplug unnecessary appliances
•Leave 3 inches of space around any heaters

Packages/Mail:
•Track packages
•Choose alternative delivery (Amazon locker, FedEx Office, UPS store)
•Submit mail hold order request
•Have your neighbor check your mail

Off Campus Living also wants to remind you all that Western’s HEERF III (Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund) application will be open from 12:00 noon today, November 10th, 2021, to 12:00 noon on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021. HEERF III funding was appropriated on March 11th 2021, through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
Federal HEERF II funds may be used by students to pay for any component of their cost of attendance such as tuition and fees, food, housing, health care (including mental health care), or child care, or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus.
Students must have been enrolled during the COVID-19 national emergency and met at least one of the following eligibility criteria to be considered for Federal HEERF III grant funding: have exceptional financial need calculated from the FAFSA or WASFA, are facing extraordinary financial circumstances, or have incurred expenses that result from the COVID-19 pandemic.
