Chuckanut Center

Chuckanut Center We're located in Fairhaven Park on scenic Highway 11 just south of the historical Fairhaven District. We grow Food, Skills and a Resilient Community.

Our facility, Chuckanut Center, is 1.8 acres of outdoor fields and garden space for organizations as well as the 100+ year old Caretaker's House. Leafcutter bees have moved into our garden. Here's a female Unarmed Leafcutter bee (no idea why she's named that - she looks to me like she has the usual number of bee arms) resting with the piece of leaf she's cut to use as a cell for her egg before she flies it into her nesting spot under our front steps. Don't fear these bees!They are gentle and won't do any serious damage to your plants.

Our W**d n Feed squad at Monday night. We’re planning the Chuckanut Center’s W**d n Feed next Saturday June 13th where volunteers come at 10 for 2 hours of work in the orchard and garden followed by a delicious lunch. If you want to join us at 103 Chuckanut Dr. N next to Fairhaven Park please RSVP to [email protected] so we know how much food to cook. We’d love to see you.

Washington’s first statewide survey of bees has found dozens of species new to the state.

Several long-lost species, turned up by citizen-scientists with nets and specimen jars, had not been seen in Washington for a century or more.
