Colby (Lummi Nation) a 7th generation fisherman backed with inherent knowledge.
In this photo he was explaining the process of tying the rocket parachute in comparison of fishing knots with the commonality of the functions they both possess. During this process we were able to draw conclusions to Team Thunderbirds project on why we must use materials such as nylon or Kevlar being they have properties that can affect knot performance.
Colby explains how in rocketry space is limited, that’s why knots need to be tight Fishing knots and Rocket knots undergo about the same force and resistance, but fishing knots prioritize consistent tension and rocket knots focus on high impact shock loads.

Huge milestone for Rocket Team Stoodis today as we successfully completed a test launch! This is a major step forward in our journey, and we're incredibly proud of the dedication and hard work the entire team has put in to get us here.

While not everyone could be there for the launch due to scheduling conflicts, we want to acknowledge all of our amazing Stoodis members who are essential to our success. We miss you all, and your contributions are deeply valued!

Stay tuned for more exciting updates from Stoodis!
