We also want to take a moment to publicly thank Teacher Jen for two amazing years at Lakeside! She will be stepping away from her full-time teaching position at the end of the school year, but leaves a great legacy of creative learning opportunities for our kids. Teacher Angie will continue to provide our program's solid foundation and we look forward to welcoming a new teacher to our community.

Lakeside Cooperative Preschool has a few openings remaining in our afternoon Pre-K class for 2026-2027. Come join our cooperative preschool community! Our Pre-K program for 4-5 year olds includes social-emotional and academic skill development through fun, play-based learning opportunities. Our students enjoy the variety of learning opportunities and parents love being actively involved in their child's education. Pre-K curriculum includes language and literacy, STEM and sensory activities, social-emotional skills, arts and dramatic play, music and movement, gross and fine motor development, and outdoor exploration on our school playground, nature walks, and "forest playground". Lakeside is hosting our annual Open House on Thursday, 2/12 4:30 to 6:00 pm. Our Preschool and Pre-K classes are for children 3-5 years old with families interested in participating in the classroom and operations of our cooperative preschool. Lakeside's fall fundraiser is underway! You can support Lakeside by purchasing beautiful wreaths and poinsettias from a local grower, Van Wingerden's Nursery. Orders can be accepted until November 8, 2024. If you know a current Lakeside family, please reach out to them for their family's direct weblink.

Do you know any families with young children in east Whatcom County? If so, please share! I am helping to host a Play and Learn group for young children and parents/caregivers at the East Whatcom Regional Resource Center in Kendall on Wednesday mornings, 9 - 10:30 am. It is a free, drop-in program with play activities and social opportunities for kids and resources and community for adults.
