Serving you with Ar-De by our side 🐦💛

Our hummingbird mascot is more than just a cute character—it’s a meaningful part of the learning process. Ar-De helps bring curiosity, creativity, and connection into each experience, making learning more engaging and memorable.

Because sometimes, the best way to learn is to have a little companion along the way. 🌱✨

When you see Ar-De, remember what the hummingbird represents:

Courage to begin.
Freedom to create.
Discipline to grow.
Confidence to be heard.
Resilience to keep going.
And the courage to let your talent take flight.

Ar-De isn’t just a mascot.

Ar-De is a reminder that every great musical journey begins with one small note—and every student has the potential to soar.

Since 1994, Arts Development School of Music has been helping students discover their voices, develop their talents, and courageously embark on their own musical journeys.

Now, Ar-De is here to remind us:

Dream big. Create boldly. Keep flying.

Why the Hummingbird?

The Story of Ar-De, the Arts Development School of Music Mascot

Every school has something that represents who they are.

For Arts Development School of Music, that symbol is the hummingbird.

Small, colorful, energetic, and fearless, the hummingbird may seem delicate at first—but it is one of nature’s most remarkable little creatures. It can fly in every direction, hover in place, move with incredible speed, and travel great distances despite its tiny size.

And that is exactly what makes the hummingbird the perfect symbol for our students.

A hummingbird reminds us that you don’t have to be the biggest or loudest to make an impact.

Every student who walks through the doors of Arts Development School of Music begins their musical journey somewhere. Some may arrive confident and ready to perform. Others may be shy, nervous, or unsure of their abilities.

But just like a hummingbird learning to fly, they begin with small movements.

One note.

One rhythm.

One lesson.

One brave performance.

And little by little, those small moments become something extraordinary.

The hummingbird also represents freedom and creativity. It doesn’t fly in only one direction. It moves forward, backward, sideways, and upward—reminding us that there isn’t just one way to grow as an artist.

A student may discover their voice through piano, singing, guitar, dance, performance, composition, or another form of artistic expression. Their path doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s.

Their journey is uniquely theirs.

The hummingbird’s incredible energy also represents the passion our students bring to their craft. Music isn’t simply about learning the right notes. It’s about discovering confidence, discipline, expression, courage, and joy.

And perhaps most importantly, the hummingbird represents resilience.

Despite its size, it can travel remarkable distances.

That is a beautiful reminder to every young artist:

Never underestimate what you are capable of just because you are still growing.

At Arts Development School of Music, we believe every student has the ability to create something meaningful. Our job is to help them discover that ability, nurture it, and give them the courage to let it take flight.

Meet Ar-De! 🐦🎶

We’re excited to introduce a new member of the Arts Development School of Music family: Ar-De, our musical hummingbird mascot! 💜🧡

Ar-De represents the heart of what we believe music education can be: a journey filled with curiosity, creativity, confidence, growth, and joy. Just like every student has their own unique voice, Ar-De reminds us that there’s no one way to make music—there’s only your way.

From the first note to the big performance, Ar-De will be cheering our students on as they LISTEN • LEARN • CREATE • SOAR. ✨

You’ll start seeing Ar-De around the studio, in our social media, at events, on student materials, and maybe even on some fun merchandise!

🏅 Celebrating the Work Behind the Performance 🎶

A recital is about so much more than what happens during those few minutes on stage.

It’s the weeks and months of preparation. The practice sessions. The memorization. The nerves before walking into the room. The courage to begin when everyone is watching. The ability to recover when something doesn’t go exactly as planned. And, most importantly, the willingness to keep growing.

At Arts Development School of Music, we believe these experiences are an essential part of a student’s musical education.

You can practice scales. You can rehearse your repertoire. You can study technique. But learning how to perform through the nerves, communicate with an audience, and trust yourself under pressure requires real performance experience.

That’s why moments like this matter. 🥹🏅

Seeing our students receive their medals, congratulations, and well-deserved applause is a reminder that their accomplishments are about more than a single recital performance. They represent the dedication, discipline, courage, and growth that brought them to that stage.

We are incredibly proud of every student who participated in our 2026 Summer Recital. Your hard work showed—and you gave us so much to celebrate. 👏🎹🎤

Congratulations, musicians! Keep practicing. Keep performing. Keep finding your voice.

The stage is not just where you demonstrate what you’ve learned.
It’s where you discover what you’re capable of. ✨

08/17/2026

There’s something about stepping onto a recital stage that you simply can’t learn in a practice room. 🎶✨

Performance isn’t just about playing the right notes, singing the right phrases, or remembering every measure. It’s learning how to breathe through the nerves, recover from a mistake, stay present under pressure, connect with an audience, and trust the preparation you’ve put in.

You can talk about stage fright. You can practice performance techniques. You can rehearse until you feel ready—but you can’t truly learn how to work through performance nerves without experiencing performance.

That’s why recitals matter. They give students the opportunity to take everything they’ve been learning and put it into practice in a real performance environment. Every bow, every entrance, every recovery, every moment of courage becomes part of their growth as musicians and performers.

This summer, our students showed us just how much that growth is happening. Their preparation, dedication, resilience, and hard work were evident throughout their performances—and we couldn’t be prouder. ❤️

A huge congratulations to every student who stepped onto that stage. Whether you performed one piece or an entire program, you showed up, you took the risk, and you shared your music.

That is performance education.
That is confidence in the making.
And that is something worth celebrating. 🎼👏

08/17/2026

There's a moment every student hits that a lesson alone can't teach them.

You can practice a piece a hundred times in a room by yourself. But the first time you play it start to finish, in front of people, with no do-overs — that's a different skill entirely. That's not music theory. That's nerve.

This is what a recital is actually for. It's not a recap of what was learned — it's the moment the private, repetitive work of lessons becomes one public, one-take performance. No stopping to fix a mistake. No second attempt. Just showing up and playing it.

That's the whole point of putting it on the calendar.

🥁 Swipe-worthy proud moment from our Summer Recital.
