The Blue Village has been exploring what it means to be an upstander through the lens of the Pirkei Avot quote, “It is not your duty to finish the work, but neither are you at liberty to neglect it” (2:16).
Villagers learned about individuals throughout Jewish tradition who stood up for themselves and others, and reflected on how even small actions can make a meaningful difference. To bring their learning to life, students researched modern and historical upstanders and wrote articles to create their very own class newspaper.
We are so proud of their thoughtful work, curiosity, and commitment to making the world a better place!

Sharing Circles is one of the most special traditions and learning opportunities at JDS! Students across grade levels come together to present projects they are proud of to their families and peers, building confidence and practicing public speaking in a warm, supportive environment.
From kindergarten through 8th grade, families get a glimpse into our project-based learning curriculum and the incredible growth happening in every classroom. Even more meaningful, Sharing Circles creates opportunities for families to connect across grades and strengthen the community that makes our school so special.
We are so proud of our students for sharing their voices, passions, and achievements with confidence and joy!

Big cheers for the JDS Jaguars basketball team! 🏀 🐆
Our elementary schoolers played a fantastic game against our friends at this week. We loved seeing the teamwork, hustle, sportsmanship, and school spirit on display from both teams.
Way to represent the Jaguars with heart and determination—we’re so proud of you!

What's the best way to study science? By eating, of course! Middle schoolers have been exploring the science of cooking, learning about chemical and physical changes through food. Learners are also gaining life skills by flipping crepes, hard boiling eggs, and more. What's your favorite science experiment in the kitchen? Tell us in the comments!

JDS was buzzing this week! Yellow Villagers learned how to write and send letters to friends and family as part of their study of communities. Rainbow Villagers donned costumes and acted the part of their carefully researched wax museum characters. Blue and Purple Villagers explored our Pacific Northwest ecosystems at the Seattle Aquarium. Green Villagers crafted and assembled personalized Shabbat boxes and shared them with family and friends at their Shabbat Box Museum. Finally, we kicked off ABC countdown to celebrate every day until the last day of school. Deep inquiry and joyful engagement were on full display this week! Shabbat shalom!
