Curious about where PTA funds go? Last year, the PTA raised roughly $42,000 and spent $14k towards students/classroom, $11k on community events, and $4k on staff support and appreciation.

We ended the year with a $10k surplus, and have plans to use it this year to help replace some outdoor equipment around the school!

We'll briefly discuss and vote on the PTA's 2026-2027 school year budget at the start of our Thursday PTA meeting. Please consider becoming a member to help us vote!

👋 Meet The Principal: Mrs. Kastrup! 🦅

We thought it would be fun to get to know the person behind the principal’s office a little better with just ONE day left before school starts!! 😱📚

Q: How long have you been at Bellevue Elementary?
A: Since 2018! I’ve been proudly leading our Hawks ever since! 😊

Q: What do you love most about being a principal?
A: Helping kids and staff discover their strengths and become the best versions of themselves. ❤️

Q: What did you do before becoming principal?
A: A little bit of everything! I’ve been a classroom teacher, reading specialist, instructional facilitator, and assistant principal before landing here!

Q: Where did you go to school?
A: The University of Nebraska–Lincoln! (🌽 Go Big Red!)

Q: What do you like to do when you’re not at school?
A: Spend time with family and friends, travel, shop, read with a giant cup of coffee, and hang out with my two cats. 🐈☕

Q: What’s your biggest weakness?
A: Dessert!🧁 I have a sweet tooth and love trying new dessert recipes!

Q: Who are you cheering for?
A: The KC Chiefs and all things Nebraska sports! 🏈

A HUGE thank you from the PTA! 🎉

We had SO much fun seeing new and familiar faces - it was wonderful to welcome everyone back to school and to see how tall every kid seemed to have grown!!!! 😳

We sold out of spirit wear in every youth size! But don’t worry, a link to order online is coming very soon and extended sizes will be available too!

🍭 Small reminder for our kinder families: popsicles on the playground will be happening tomorrow from 3-4. We’re excited to meet everyone and share in the excitement for the new school year!

Are you ready?

Our post today is an important one to take into consideration for the annual "back to school" photos you see and take every year. It's a very exciting time, but please take a moment to be conscious of what you're posting about your children online. Protecting your child's privacy protects their safety!

Here are some DO's and DON'Ts to keep your kids safe online when posting their back to school pictures:

DO
✅Check your privacy settings on your social media
✅Take photos in safe, private location
✅ Keep the background simple and free of identifying details
✅Disable location services

And not safety related, but just a tip:
✅ Take your photo a day or two BEFORE school starts (Beat the chaos!)

DONT
❌ Include your child's full name
❌ Include your school name or location
❌ Include teacher names
❌ Share photos of other children without permission
❌ Take photos showing sensitive information such as house number and school name

📚 Here’s the PTA’s Back-to-School Transition Tips 📚

🌙 Bedtimes: Start easing back the late nights as soon as possible! If you’re like some of us on the PTA and try to fix it the night before school starts… we’ve all been there, and it does not work. Wind down 30-60 minutes ahead, screens off, and yes, they really do need those extra hours even if they’ll fight you on it! The PTA says so!

☀️ Mornings: Keep the list short! Getting dressed, brushing teeth, breakfast, backpack! Sometimes doing the heavy lifting the night before (packing lunchboxes, picking clothes) can be a lifesaver!

😮‍💨 Patience: With new routines, classmates and teachers it can be hard for everyone! Deep breath! Consistency is better than perfection!
