Attention Friends Members!
We'd love for you to be a part of our quest to upcycle donated discarded books that are too outdated or too damaged to sell in the book sale room. For the second year in a row, we are using these materials to create craft projects to be sold for $5. All proceeds go towards programs for the library.
Our next session to create these craft kits is Wednesday, August 26, 2026 from 4:30 to 6:30 pm in Meeting Room B at the library. One of the projects we are working on is the witch pictured below - just in time for Halloween!

Hello Friends!

Beginning in August the Friends of the Bellevue Public Library will again host work sessions to create craft kits with pages from donated discarded books that are too outdated or too damaged to be added to the collection or sold in our book sale room. Last year was our first try at this. We created and sold kits for $5.00 at the
circulation desk, using the money raised to support the leisure passes the library checks out to patrons, staff appreciation throughout the year, and Books for Babies.

The schedule for these sessions is as follows:
Tuesday, August 4, in Meeting Room A from 4:30 to 7:45 P.M.
Wednesday, August 26, in Meeting Room B from 4:30 to 7:45 P.M.
Monday, August 31, In Meeting Room A from 4:30 to 7:45 P.M.
Wednesday, September 9, in Meeting Room B from 4:30 to 7:45 P.M.

Everyone is welcome at these work sessions. Please come for all or for a few or for one—even for a few minutes of one it that’s all the time you have. Bring a friend if you like. Helpers don’t have be members of the Friends or even a member of the BPL.

Save the Date!
On Tuesday August 4, the Friends will have our first meeting for our new project to repurpose and give life to old books slated for recycling. We will begin assembling our first kit - this adorable Witch, just in time for Halloween! We will also discuss future projects and dates for additional work days. More information to follow!

Hello Friends,

The library is kicking off the Adult Reading Program this weekend and we have a few volunteer opportunities if you would be so kind as to donate your time.

On Sunday April 4/19/2026 During the Adult Reading Program Kickoff the Friends need assistance in our booth from noon to 4pm. Our booth will be greeting patrons and giving away free temporary tattoos to those that are interested. If you can help, for all or even part of it, please reach out to the Friends Treasurer Kathleen Crawford Rose via email at [email protected] You can get yourself registered for the program while you are there too!

Next Saturday April 25, 2026 the library is hosting a Fix-it Clinic and needs a person or two who can greet patrons at the door and direct them to which corner of the library the assistance they seek is stationed. Hours for this event are 1pm-4pm. Please contact Laura via email at [email protected] if you can assist.

Saturday May 30, 2026 assistance is needed during the spelling bee to monitor the participants and help the event run smoothly. Hours are 12:30pm-2:30pm. Again, please email Laura with Adult Services at [email protected] if you can help.
