Last week, we celebrated a fantastic Grad day. The graduates instructed our younger students in new games, songs, and stories. It was impressive to witness the growth of our graduates as they are all remarkable individuals. Our current GRP students thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the older students and learning what “big kid school” is like. Big thanks to our parent volunteers we couldn’t have pulled it off without you!

We started off 2026 with cooking pancakes! The clidren helped prepare the batter and the toppings and everyone gobbled them up! As a literacy extension we read the book “If you give a pig a pancake”.

In the week leading up to the break, we had Art Week, an event where the children learned about female artists with disabilities and the stories behind their work. We examined the symbolism and messages in their art, as well as their roles as advocates. We discussed what inspired them to pursue art and how it facilitates emotional expression. The children had a blast engaging in hands-on projects modeled after these artists and their work.

It’s been a busy few weeks! We’ve moved into our community theme, which is a great time to talk about all the people we’re grateful for. With Thanksgiving right around the corner, the children have been making turkey art and Thanksgiving cards, as well as enjoying some fall and Thanksgiving-themed science and cooking. We’ve had apple volcanoes, cranberry science, made apple pie, and all the while Mr. Turkey has been hiding in his costumes, hoping not to get eaten this year.

We have started cooking with the children once a week! So far, we have made Food group faces, Friendship pockets and Trail mix. All simple recipes that they can make at home on their own. The children have learned what is in their food groups and what the difference is with a dry ingredient vs. a wet ingredient. During cooking we learn to mix, measure, count, and so much more. The best part is working together to make something yummy!

The first two weeks of school are almost over! Time truly flies when you are having fun. We are currently in our All About Me Unit and the children have been learning about our hearts, lungs and our senses. During free play inside and out we have been busy doing crafts, planting and lots of getting to know our new friends.

Buzz Buzz Buzz! It is that time of year again where we put out our Mason Bee Cocoons! The children spent time learning the bee cycle and reading about why these little pollinators are so important. A few of the children were brave enough to hold our little friends.

About us: Our school is founded on being an affordable and we are centered on families and offering quality learning. Thorough a welcoming environment we seek to foster a lifelong love of learning in your children.

Our teachers are trained and experienced. Ms. Cheryl is a certified teacher for early education in Washington State and Ms. Rachel has completed her bachelor work at the University of Washington in Early Education and Family Studies.

We also pride ourselves on the integration of learning programs such as Project-based, Montessori, and Reggio Emilia methods, which focus on child-driven education. Our teachers bring their experiences with these different programs into one cohesive curriculum. Our program helps your child build upon what they have previously learned, and each child will be given individual and group lessons in core areas such as reading and writing, math, geography, self-help skills, science, German, and other subjects.

At Garden Ridge Preschool we created a quality curriculum that is rich with tactile, visual, and auditory experiences that will foster a love of learning and supports learning in all the important developmental domains for early childhood education in addition to preparing your child for the transition into kindergarten and beyond. We look forward to caring for your child and for your family.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We hope to see you at the open house.

Sincerely,
Ms. Cheryl and Ms. Rachel
