The final layer on my Musashi linocut was done today. It will need a fews days to dry and then I will frame a few and put them on the website. I am pretty darned happy with this one. It was technically the most difficult print I have done so far.

New woodblock print for sale:
Hokusai Tribute Mokuhanga (traditional Japanese woodblock)
My design that I did as a linocut, I also did as a woodblock print. Two blocks of "Shina" plywood were carved. Unlike the oil based ink in the linocut prints which used a press, the printing in mokuhanga uses water colors and is done entirely by hand.
This is the last one from the print run. When it is sold, it will be a few months before I do another run.

Lino cut based on a Kuniyoshi print of the Edo Period. It is of one of the characters in the Kabuki Play, Chushingura, based on the story of the 47 Ronin. Kuniyoshi did a set of woodblock prints of all 47 of the ronin.

Lock down has kept me at home and away from the dojo. So, while away from Aikido, I have been using my time on the other great love, art. Specifically Japanese themed print art.
I do lino cuts and mokuhanga (traditional Japanese woodblock prints). People had been asking how to acquire some of my work so I created a section on my existing video website for my print art.
