Calling all rising 9th and 10th graders who want more than just sitting at home this summer!

The Wise Camps Volunteers in Training (VIT) Program is designed for teens who want to have fun, make friends, gain leadership skills, and be part of something bigger than themselves.

Spend your mornings learning how to lead, communicate, and work as a team. Spend your afternoons earning volunteer hours and working alongside awesome high school mentors while helping younger campers have the best week of their summer.

This isn't a boring class—it’s a chance to:

• Meet other motivated teens from around the area
• Build confidence and maturity
• Develop leadership skills that colleges and employers love
• Earn community service hours
• Learn how to work with kids and lead groups
• Make memories and friendships that last long after summer ends
• Become eligible to volunteer with Wise Camps in future summers

Many of our best volunteers started right here as VIT students. They discovered that leadership isn't just about being in charge—it's about building community, showing empathy, and making a positive impact.

RAISING FUTURE LEADERS

Calling all rising 9th & 10th graders!

The Wise Camps Volunteers in Training (VIT) Program is more than just a camp—it’s an opportunity to grow in confidence, maturity, and leadership while making a difference in the lives of younger campers.

Mornings: Leadership activities, team building, and learning how to become a positive role model.

Afternoons: Earn volunteer hours while working directly with younger campers in our fun, hands-on STEAM programs.

Through VIT, students develop:
• Leadership and communication skills
• Empathy and patience
• Teamwork and responsibility
• Confidence and maturity
• The ability to positively impact others

Students build friendships, become part of an encouraging community, and develop skills that will benefit them in school, volunteering, jobs, and life.

Complete VIT 1 and VIT 2 and become eligible to serve as an official Wise Camps volunteer in future summers.

• Earn community service hours
• Receive leadership certification
• Secure a volunteer opportunity later in the summer
• Create memories and friendships that last a lifetime

The Chinook Middle School Campus is slowly filling up! Once the spots are taken we won't be able to admit any more students. Our camps are designed for campers as young as 4 (Young Scientists) and as old as soon to be 8th graders(STEAM for 7th-8th Graders)! We even have engaging training for 9th and 10th graders to become the best volunteers! (VIT 1 and VIT 2) Not only can campers gain a love for STEAM they can also learn to lead!!

Our dream to return to Newport High School has come true! And camp spots are filling up fast! We will once again inspire elementary and middle school students to love everything STEAM on the campus of NHS! If you are still looking for a camp, don't wait! Our newest camp: STEAM for 7th and 8th graders during week 2 is nearly sold out.
