Teacher Spotlight #3: Meet Paul Stoot II 🥁
With over 33 years of professional drumming experience and a decade of teaching, Paul brings an incredible depth of knowledge, versatility, and passion to the lesson program at .
From learning on pots and pans at age 3 to becoming a Top 4 national finalist in the Guitar Center Drum Off representing the West Coast at just 17, Paul’s musical journey has taken him through touring, recording, competitions, worship teams, and performances across countless genres.
Paul works with students of all ages and experience levels, whether you’re learning your very first beat or refining advanced technique, creativity, groove, timing, fills, and live performance skills. His lessons focus on building confidence, strong fundamentals, and a genuine love for playing while keeping things motivating, engaging, and fun.
He’s performed with projects including Peace Maker Nation, King Youngblood, and The Dylan Hughes YIN Band, and has served as a worship drummer at Westgate Chapel since 2017.

Congrats to Mac on his new twisted blue steel Mainstage kit with !! 🔥 We hope it brings you years of enjoyment, and lots of great music!
These Mainstage kits have been wildly successful here at WCDS since we took on the revamped version from 2024, featuring the deeper 6.5x14 snare drum, better hardware, and TP30 tension rods. It’s nice to see some DW-style features on these super solid student kit, especially the twisted finishes!

This Saturday at 3 PM | Seattle drumming legend Steve Smith is coming to West Coast Drum Shop for an inspiring clinic on accelerated learning, creativity, groove, and musical growth behind the kit.
Founder of Seattle Drum School of Music and author of Keys to the City, Steve will share decades of insight into rhythm, movement, time, and effective practice concepts for drummers of all levels.

WEST COAST DRUM SHOP TEACHER SPOTLIGHT // ZACH ZIONTZ
Zach Ziontz is a drummer, percussionist, and teacher with a BA in Music and a minor in Arts Enterprise & Cultural Innovation from Western Washington University. Before moving to the Seattle area, he taught percussion at Bellingham Music, working with students of all ages and experience levels, from total beginners to more advanced players.
He studied percussion pedagogy with Dr. Patrick Roulet and has spent years studying privately with Chase Culp. Zach has also studied with Will Andrews and taken part in masterclasses with a number of world-renowned drummers, helping shape his approach to both playing and teaching.
Outside of teaching, Zach stays active performing throughout the Seattle area. He frequently plays live with his original band Actress and has experience in rock, orchestral percussion, percussion ensembles, and experimental music settings.
Some of his career highlights include performing with Grammy Award-winning pianist Gloria Cheng, appearing at the Edeta Arts Percussion Festival in Llíria, Spain, and playing countless gigs throughout Seattle and Bellingham.
Zach’s lessons are focused, relaxed, and tailored to each student’s goals. Whether someone wants to improve fundamentals, develop better feel and technique, prepare for auditions, or simply become a more creative musician, he enjoys helping students grow and stay inspired.
