Scott VFW Post 4183 was chartered in 1951 with 88 members and was named the Loren Howerth VFW Post. Their first meetings were held in the basement of the P-3 Building at Scott Air Force base. Kocher, the Commander largely responsible for re-energizing the post's efforts in reaching organizational goals. Commander Kocher was also responsible for providing a commitment to service to those veterans who served their country. In the 80's, the Post took on it's present designation as the Scott VFW Post 4183. In early 2015, VFW Post 11064 merged with Scott VFW Post 4183 and, today, the Post has nearly 600 members and is involved in dozens of National and local
causes supporting U.S. Veterans and the community. From Memorial Day and Veterans Day services, to supporting local youth scholarships, awarding Educators of the Year, to overseas troop support, we make a difference. We’re active on behalf of veterans and their families. We organize blood drives, lobby elected officials, and promise support for returning vets and their families. We participate in many community service organizations
such as Opal’s House, and The Eagle’s Nest of St Clair County. We also support the Toys for Tots and Back-To-School programs. OUR VISION: Ensure that veterans are respected for their service, always receive their earned entitlements, and are recognized for the sacrifices they and their loved ones have made on behalf of this great country.
