The ASRT is accepting applications for two impactful professional development opportunities: the Leadership Academy and the Advocacy Training Program.
With one application, you will be considered for both programs. These opportunities are designed to help medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals strengthen their leadership skills, understand advocacy principles, navigate legislative and regulatory processes, and prepare to help protect and advance the profession.
The program begins August 1, 2026 and concludes with a two-day wrap-up training session in March 2027 at the ASRT office in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Please join us in congratulating the newly installed officers of the Illinois State Society of Radiologic Technologists during the 91st Annual ISSRT Conference.
At this year’s conference, we proudly welcomed individuals stepping into the roles of President (Sue Dumford), Vice President (Jennifer Beese), Northern Region Advisor (Shelli Thacker), Senior Delegate (Sharon Elwood), and Secretary (Nikki MacDougall), while also celebrating the continued service of our Southern Region Advisor (Holly Heisner), who was installed for another term.
We also recognize Pat Murphy, who transitions from President into the role of Chairman of the Board. We appreciate his leadership and continued service to the ISSRT.
They will join our current Central Region Advisor, (Chris Sisson) and Treasurer (Lacey Boudeman) who continue to serve in their existing terms.
We are grateful for each leader’s willingness to serve and support the members, students, educators, and professionals who make up the ISSRT community. Volunteer leadership is essential to the continued strength and success of our organization.

We were glad to once again welcome Bill Callaway to this year’s ISSRT Annual Conference. For the past several years, Bill has generously shared his time, expertise, and enthusiasm in support of medical imaging success. We were honored to welcome Brandon Smith to this year’s ISSRT Annual Conference. Brandon shared an inspiring presentation on overcoming barriers to volunteerism and the many ways getting involved can strengthen both personal growth and the profession as a whole. He also joined us for our awards ceremony as we celebrated the accomplishments of our student radiographers.
We truly appreciate his time, leadership, and support of the profession. Opportunities to connect with national leaders help strengthen our state societies and inspire the next generation of technologists.

Thank you Dr. Kristin Beinschroth for traveling from California to be part of the ISSRT Annual Conference. Her session on forensic imaging highlighted a unique and impactful side of radiography, showing how imaging can contribute in meaningful ways beyond the traditional clinical setting.

Dean Brake’s presentation on collimation highlighted how proper beam restriction supports patient safety, image quality, and professional standards in everyday imaging practice.
