This morning was the first German Club meeting of the year. We have a lot of great activities planned this semester and we are looking forward to an amazing school year!

The Paderborn summer youth exchange program just ended on Friday. Nine Belleville East students and one Belleville West student traveled to Belleville’s sister city of Paderborn and stayed with host families for three weeks from mid-July until August 7th. While in Germany, the students met with Paderborn mayor Stefan-Oliver Strate in Paderborn’s historic City Hall, celebrated at the famous Libori Festival, toured the city, the SC Paderborn soccer stadium, and Peters chocolate factory in Lippstadt, in addition to many other fun activities with their host families. They also traveled to Berlin for three days, learning about German history, comparing the US and German political systems and touring the Reichstag building.

The annual Belleville East High School German Honor Society dinner took place last night at Bellecourt Manor. Congratulations to all the students who were honored and to the new Delta Epsilon Phi inductees! Vielen Dank also to Tim Faltus at Bellecourt for one last amazing German buffet!
